DAM THAts no bueno do you know if a engine swap is harder then installling a turbo
is the 3.1 alot stronger than the 2.8?

if your worried about cost i would just get a 350 tune port engine and accesories of a junkyard roc or somethign throw that in there u can prob get the full setup from a yard for 7-800 bucks depending on ur area a little time and a few extra dollars ull have that thing going from 100 hp 150tq to 230hp 330tq

and yes a turbo setup is easyer to build if you or a friend can cut and weld pipe half way decent but on a 2.3 is not worth the time u get the 350 and then turbo that probly 2500-3000 bucks all said and done for a cheap turbo 350 setup

i think i am going to run a turbo set-up on my v6 2.8
my engine should be able to handle 15psi and nothing more
should i plan to rebuild the engine before i install the turbo....

Turbo setup is a whole 'nother world. You will need to overhaul and build up the block, get the turbo, piping, intercooler, BOV, proper headers and exhaust and other accessories, and build up the trans to handle the power. IIRC, there are some internal differences in the V6 trans that will need to be addressed by rebuilding the transmission with new frictions, a shift kit, better 2-4 servo, etc. to take teh increased load.

That, and also you have to set the fuel injection up for boost. This means likely using another ECM that can handle a 2-bar MAP. Then theres tuning.

I would probably count on spending at least 5-6k, if not more on a properly built turbo v6. The stock 2.8 might take a little boost, but if you crank it up, it will puke under the load.

but 7k i was thinking bout 2-3k but u make sense with exhaust etc.
i have just found my local junkyard or should i say HEAVEN
me and my friend will be swapping engines into cars at the junkyard just for experience i wanna get the feel for what i am doing before i mess my car up
anybody have any suggestions on a 400 small block or what cars i could find this in
i think my end plan is to put a 400 in my 89 rs 305
from what i was told it will be easy to swap the 400 in to the 305 spot also how many extra accesories include in an engine swap anything?
