$6000, too much? Crazy?

Can someone look at this posting...

Is this guy nuts selling this at $6,000, or am I missing something?! I plenty of nicer cars that are less than this..

Re: $6000, too much? Crazy?

i fully well expected to click the link and then post the guy is on crack... but after seeing the car, I'd have to say that if the exterior looks good up close, and IF the interior is really nice too... the LT1 swap may justify the cost. The fact that it's a RS holds down the price a little, but you go buy a really clean RS, and then do the LT1 swap, and them tell me how much you've invested in the car.

my main concern would be if the T5 is strong enough to handle the LT1. you might be in the market for a new tranny real fast

It might be worth the money, but I personaly would never buy a car thats had a motor swap done unless I knew the person that did the swap. I also wouldnt buy one with a T5 behind and decent V8. But then again I'm picky. I would rather buy a shell for $500 and build the rest of the car myself.

Sarcasm at it's best....
The sun is beating on the car, and it barely looks like it has a clear coat, or just has flat paint. Not very appealing to myself or anyone I have asked. The fact that I can get my hands on a pretty clean rs for about $2500-$3000 in my area kind of alarms me about his price.
Also a T5 behind that motor...I don't know if I want to be searching for a trans soon.
Another thing to point out, it is craigslist. I don't trust people when they say they had all of these "hidden" parts changed (timing chain, rear end gearing, etc), not even if they have receipts. People lie too much on craigslist.

I asked if he would take $4,000 and he said call him and he'll see if we can work something out. 2,000 price drop, also wants cash in hand before driving the car.... whole thing sounds kind of weird. Idk maybe it is just me.

IF you show up anywhere with $4000 in hand, you better make sure you meet in a public place... very public.

Personally, I would ask for better pictures before I walked across the street to look at it, but it sounds like you've already seen in in person

the tranny thing does bother me
