87 TPI No Start HELP
I have an 87 IROC with a 5.0 TPI. For about four months i've been dealing with a problem with this car. on hot days if you would drive the car then shut it off and try to restart it after about a half hour it wouldn't start. wait fifteen to thirty minutes and it would start. i figured it was the ignition module so i replaced that. a week later i had the same problem. again NO spark. i purchased and installed a Jegs small cap distributor, MSD street spark coil and Jegs 8.0 wires. set the timing to 8 degrees and it ran like a champ. timing was previously at about 2 thanks to the previous owner ( i knew these cars were supposed to fry the tires)
that was a month ago. now the car won't start for anything. occasionally i won't hear the fuel pump prime, and i have no spark whatsoever. ohm'd the pickup coil, ohm'd the ignition coil. checked power to coil, power to the esc module. everything is good. is there something i'm missing? i don't wanna pull the TPI and put a carb on it. this is my economy car, well atleast as close as i'm gonna get to an economical car.
please help
