Just can't find the problem
Hey all i am fairly new to this site as well as thirdgen camaros. I have an 89 IROC Z convertible, I was driving a couple weeks ago and it died. After it died I cranked and it would turn but not start. So far I have changed the following:
Cap, Rotor, Plugs, plug wires, ignition module, fuel filter, coil (external not HEI). I have been able to get the car running since by spraying starting fluid into the intake, that makes me think it is a fuel issue. I have tesed the pressure at the fuel rail and it is around 38 lbs running, 42 lbs key on. I am not so familiar with Fuel injection and it seems as if there is something that I am just missing. Ocassionally when I crank it without starting fluid it almost fires up but the just back to cranking. Anyone have any ideas? If not does anyone know a good trustworthy mechanic in the Las Vegas area? Any and all help would be great.

Re: Just can't find the problem
Make sure you have power to your injectors, possible fuse or wire problem? There should be 2 10amp fuses in the fuse panel. You should have a pink/blk hot wire on one bank and a light green/blk hot wire on the other bank. You measure the fuel pressure with the vacuum line off the fpr. If your stock you should be around 43.5psi. Hope this helps some.

Re: Just can't find the problem
thanks...I have tested each injector and and it is holding right at 12 volts. If pressure on fuel rail is lower than what you suggest could that be the problem?
Re: Just can't find the problem
Had a similar problem with mine, ended up being the pickup coil inside the distributor. The coil wasn't sending a signal to tell the injectors to fire. Its like a $15 part but you have to pull the distributor to change it. If you havent already I would check that out

Yes, possible fpr rubbers could be broke. If you do find them to be bad, i would suggest getting an adjustable fpr. They are a little more, but worth it.
