Check out how my heads are set up does this seem Ok?

I had an engine built ( 355 SBC) and this is the setup on the heads the builder used:

Dart Iron Eagle S/S 165CC heads 67CC

2.02 intake valve 1.6 Exhaust part numbers are P11826JF100 and P2469100 ( I don't know what brand I can't find the part numbers when I search them)

Valve Springs Comp Cams 924

Retainers comp cams 740

Roller Rockers Procomp PC2301
http://www.jegs.com/i/Procomp+Electr.../2301/10002/-1

Cam is XR276 Hyd Roller 224/230 .502/.510

PC Seal .530 X 11/32

My observations:

I know the valve springs are not the recomended springs, will they work?

The retainers look as though they are the wrong ones for the springs.

Is this setup even safe to start / drive?

Any other things you noticed let me know.

Recommended springs for that cam are 986. The 924 springs you want to use are slightly larger and have a slightly higher install height which also gives slightly more pressures throughout the lift range. As long as they're installed at the recommended 1.900 install height, they should be fine to use. Don't install them at the factory 1.800 install height.

With a higher install height, you're going to need to check for the proper length pushrods. I really doubt stock length pushrods will give the proper valve train geometry. Although they will work, they'll wear out the valve guides by pushing the valve slightly sideways. The valve part numbers look like they're .100" longer valves which will be good for the higher install height springs but will really mean you need to check pushrod length.

Those retainers will work fine with the 924 springs but don't forget that you'll need 10* locks to go with them.

The 924s are really built for a big block Chevy application (I use them in my 454), which is why they have a much taller installed height than most small blocks. It would be tough to get a set of stock replacement heads up to an installed height that tall, even with longer valves.

I'd use the recommended 986 springs, or better yet, step up to the more aggressive 987s since you've got a roller and don't need to worry about flattening cam lobes. They also install at a shorter 1.75" which is a lot easier to get to with stock/near stock heads.

The engine is built and installed. I just wanted to make sure that it was not a problem running the setup as I described. I will replace the springs and retaimers if necessary but if they will work and not cause any damage I would rather keep them.
