would getting a old 350 and working on it(cam, port and polish, valve cut etc.), be a good swap for my Firebird in other words does it have a better potential than the 305 LB9 tpi? Its cause I want to get a motor to work on just for practice and to show others (mainly my friends). that I can do that, cause they all have camaros and mustangs, and hopefully a 80s vette.

Re: engine
ok I been doing alot of reading and researching, building an 383 stroker with the GMPP fast burn aluminum heads. I saw the gmp zz383 longblock (420 peakhp @ around 5400rmp) and its at $5,3900. Could I just get a 350 block and get the machining done and the rest for less $$$? I also considering the tpis mini ram intake. To what I ve seen it would produce a broad powerband enough to meet my goals wich is 400+ hp the more possible the better but being as streetable as possible too. So the main question again is can I build an 383 with the fast burn heads and save some money, or em I better off buying the zz383? (it said that it can make power up to 6k rpm, does that mean a different cam?)

Re: engine
If you upgrade the engine to that power level, other items will need immediate attention, like you transmission and rear end.
Consider the 6k upgrade
Ford 9" - $1500 to $2k

Rebuilt 700r4, Stage 2 $1500
http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/cata...m.php?ITEMID=8
Vortec shortblock $1200

Modified Vortec heads $780

New lifters $122

pick your cam , reuse your spider and dogbones.

Re: engine
Im more into tacking my car to an autocross or roadcourse in the future, I will be taking in to the drag strip too though. and I also want a manual, especially since my car is already a manual.
would a t-56 be good enough stock?
Now I do know there are t-5 that can be customized to handle more power but I will be driving this car alot (daily driver). so to me a t-56 sounds better and will allow me to run lower gears on the rear end. Since I will be doind lots of daily driving and want to go towards a handling car i should go limited slip right? Does currier have these?
Im not rushing, Im just planning everything real carefu.l but i do want to do this within a year and a half, would that be enough? main goal is to beat my friends 2001 mustang gt its stock right now. and also a 6 spd 2010 camaro ss with an lsr intake and tune!
