New guy needs help
Hi everyone. I have purchased a crossbreed. A 92 5 speed with 305 TBI. It has a 88 Ferrari body, really cool looking car. Every one wants to race and it is really a slug. lol. I should have researched it better befire I bought it. I am wishing I had just bought a Z28 now. Any way the motor has problems. It will not Idle on start up and acts like it is not getting fuel after I drive it for an hour or so. The cooling fan will not run unless the a/c is running. I am a shadetree mech, and master electrician but have never worked on anything with EFI or messed with ECM stuff. I broke down and took it to a shop. The Mech did not fix it. He said he thinks the "prom" is my fuel problem, even tho every componet tested out ok. He said the cooling fan issue is prob the computer. The car actually runs ok sometimes. I am seeking advice and opinions. Where can I buy a computer, how much is one? Will it have a new prom in it? Should I think about going to a carb instead, I would like to make this car faster if I'm gonna start sinking serious money into it. Any opinions are welcome, but I need cost estimates. Lets say I've got $2000 to spend. Thanks

The coolant fan sensor is on the passenger side of the engine, above the starter, controls cooling fans, cost for part $15-$46. The fuel issue...? have you done a tune up? like plugs $20 wires $25, oxygen sensor $20. how does the grease look under the ignition control module $40 module? how is the ignition coil $20? got any throttle body spray cleaner $6 yet? to clean up the TBI unit, and all its hoses/pipes?
