Ok this is on the backnside of motor next to distributor(open hole) I have looked every where and cannot find anything about this litte thing....it's a little housing with a pipe to a tee then one side goes into backside of block and other side goes to a little connector and wire then runs down around transmission and back you to underside of water pump........


I will go take a picture of it in a min, just a note though this motor used to be a cc carb but is no longer

Thats your oil pressure sending unit for you guage inside, if you take it out and start the engine it will leak all your oil out. you can take it out to do an install but make sure it goes back in after.

Really??? Thats what that is hmmmmm lol thanks....can it be relocated??? Or is there a different type of sending unit I can use instead of that big thing???

I'm pretty sure there's a spot right above your oil filter it can screw into.

im pretty sure you can remove those 90's and adapters and install it directly to the block just make sure you add a little teflon to the threads then it will be out of the way and straight up then you can remove your intake or whatever it was you wanted to do

on the other hand if you cant install directly all you need to do is get the right adapter and it will still be out of the way.

i just dont understand why all those adapters were instaled and the 90 maybe a quick fix and never got around to fixing it right or it was the wrong oil pressure sending unit and that was there version of an adapter kit to make it work hahahaha lol...

The unit on the intake has different size threads than the unit that is above the oil filter. So they cannot be "swapped".

What year car is this Tice? Carbed, TPI, or TBI?

Early cars had 2 different oil "units" - one was a sender (what you have pic of) that has a single wire, and mounted on intake (china wall) just like yours - it feeds the gauge. The second "unit" is mounted just above oil filter as stated, and it's a switch - it senses oil pressure and turns on the fuel pump in the event that the computer/relay fuel pump circuit doesn't work so you can "limp" home. This second "unit" has two wires, and was only used on the fuel injected cars.

Later cars (like 1988 or so) got both functions put into a single "unit" that attaches above the oil filter, and has a 3 wire connector (2 wires for fuel pump circuit, one wire for gauge).

Now, you can use the later model unit that combines all 3 functions if you like, but it will take some wiring on your part. But if your car is not fuel injected, you really only need the gauge sender.

Why is it "in the way"? In the way of what? I have the same thing you have on my 1992 carbed car, in the same spot - it's not in the way of anything - so I'm lost as to why it's "in the way".
