HELP!

Just finished having my 91 RS restored and now I have a serious oil leak problem.
The leak is on the driver side right around the oil filter. Its not leaking on the filter at all, its right next to it. It only leaks when the engine is running. It wasn't like that when I got it, but I know the body shop guy rev's it REALLY high every time he moves the car, because its not running right and it stalls a lot. Not sure what the issue is but if anyone knows or has an idea I would really appreciate it.

Thanks, Chris

Re: HELP!

Not sure about the v6's but on the v8's the same year there is an oil pressure sending unit right next to the filter. If it breaks for whatever reason it will leak oil. Usually the leak misses the filter and just goes strait to the ground or falls on the exhaust. Sometimes there's a hole there for the sending unit but its plugged. Hope this helps.

Re: HELP!

Thanks, Chris

Re: HELP!

Unplugging it won't do anything it will still leak. However you can possibly remove it and put a bolt or screw plug in its place. The only thing is you won't get an oil pressure reading. Being that your car is computer controlled I'm not sure if removing it would be a good idea. Good luck

Re: HELP!

Yes. That's the same part on mine that's broken and it only leaks a little right now but in time the leak will get worse. Especially if you have good oil pressure.
