My car surges!! What could cause this??
I have a 1992 Firebird 5.0 tbi and a 700r4 with 2.73 gears and my car surges while driving normal. If I drive it hard it doesn't do it much or if the engine is cold it doesn't surge but as soon as the car gets to operating engine temp it starts surging. It surges while picking up speed and when I'm driving 55-60 mph in orverdrive you can feel it surge. What can this be??
NOTE: the car has 177,000 miles on it and I dont know if anything has been rebuilt.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news... but it could be transmission issues. The 700r4's are really well built, but if you're slipping out of gear, it could cause your RPM's to spike. You should be going into overdrive at... i dont know... 50mph? Sounds like your car is wanting to downshift.
Check fluid levels while hot and on level ground. Might just need a top off, or a flush - that's be where I'd start.
