Blinker control lever help

I recently bought an 85 camaro. The switch would on engage in the left blinker, when I tried to get it into the right the hazards would come on. I started fooling with it and the lever snapped off. I don't really drive it all that much is there a way to splice wires and by pass the lever with a 3 way toggle switch, left off right? Just a quick and temporary fix untill pay day? If so how? If not the pull a part near me has a few complete stealing columns for like 30 bucks. Would it be easier to just replace the entire column or tear it down and replace the swith?

And is there any pics or threads on hear on how to remove the column. Never done this before?

Re: Blinker control lever help

Do a quick search and you may find what you need.
Also grab a FACTORY GM service manual. It has everything you need to know.
Its not a hard job but it does take time and most likely new parts.
Do yourself a favor and fix it properly..

Re: Blinker control lever help

In my experience with steering columns, I'd say its not worth tearing up the wiring just to put a temporary switch in.

Its really not that hard to fix it the right way. You will need to rent a steering wheel and lock plate puller from the parts store though.

If you can get a whole column for $30 I'd pick one up, and freshen it up/paint it

When I did mine this is what I paid for parts:
$40 turn signal lever w/ cruise $15-20 w/o
$17 for a new lock cylinder
$10 for the turn signal cam
$35 for the turn signal switch
total $102

Not to mention that's a good time to tighten up the tilt assembly and put loc-tite on the bolts

But of course if you can find one in good condition you could just swap it.
