cold air intake
looking around to see how to add horsepower and this always comes up.
but i have a question.
first look at the placement of the filter in this video

next this picture
now would the hoses in this picture not act as a "cold air intake" or is it just mainly for looks

Re: cold air intake
Those will pick up cooler air coming in from the headlight bucket area. No "Ram Air" effect, but way better than an open element filter & that is a factory setup.

Re: cold air intake
so would getting a universal cold air intake and installing it give a "significant" hp gain?

Re: cold air intake
Not really "significant" but does allow the engine to run better & be tuned to run better later. You would have to duct the Universal kit to the outside to really get the best benefit & the less turns the better, so that the air can flow as fast & as smooth as possible.
The factory piece ain't real bad, but it certainly could be better. Pretty hard to find those setups anyways, but you could always fab one yourself.
