camaro dies and now there is no spark
Hello, so last night I went for a drive in my 84 camaro. About an hour from home I crossed a set of train tracks and the car stalled. Now the car will not start at all and I have no spark either. So I hopped in my Durango and drove back early this morning and gave it a try and right away Vroom it came to life and then just as quickly it died again. I have one of skip whites HEI distributors and it is the clear/transparent one and I can see that there is no spark going on in there. Does this sound like it could be the coil? Any ideas would be great. Going to get it towed in about an hour and am hating the thought of the tow bill. Just a side note, it was dark when I was trying to start it last night and I could clearly see that there was no spark at all......but then it fired up briefly this morning....so then that means it had spark after sitting all night. Does that mean something?

Re: camaro dies and now there is no spark
theres a possibility that the ignition coil is heat sinked and not operating, then when cooled works. pretty common. but the pick up coil inside the distributor has the same symptoms but temperature doesnt effect it as much, it just breaks down and gets intermitant open circuit.
