TPI will not keep running
I have a TPI system from a 1986 camaro that I placed in a 1972 chevy Blazer. The system was running good but now for some reason will not start all the time. I will drive from home to work then get in and it won't start. If I leave it sit for a few hours and come back it starts. I thought maybe it was a fuel issue but when I checked the pressure I am at 40psi. Not sure what to do next to fix the problem.

Sounds like an ignition control module. Located on the distributor under the cap. Those will overheat and leave you. Then they'll work after cooling down. But your post isn't clear is it not cranking or not firing?

Re: TPI will not keep running
Never thought of the ICM but I am able to drive to work and it will sit four 4 hours and still not start. It cranks but will not start. I have not checked for spark. I have not driven it for the last couple of weeks because I cannot rely on it to start. I have had no trouble with it in the past. I have had the system in place for 5 years without trouble. The interesting thing is that I can tell when it will happen again. After stopping and then getting back in a few minutes later it starts hard. Normally it will start with one quick turn of the key but when it starts to act up it cranks longer before it starts. I thought maybe it was a vapor lock or maybe a fuel issue. After reading several post here I am thinking that I may need to blow out the fuel line, return line and fuel rail to make sure something is not plugged. I have an external fuel pump that seems to be louder than normal so I might have to replace that to.

the icm signal may just effect spark or the DRP so the injectors might not pulse. When this occurs you might want to check injector pulse with a noid light and spark as well. Or just toss in a icm to be safe. If you install a new icm make sure you use dielectric grease under the icm to help with heat disapation.
