Vent Valve Ideas
Whats up! Since GM decided to discontinue the vent valves for our cars, and I dont have time to drive to our local junk yard, im wondering what you guys used to replace the fuel tank vent valve? I was thinking of getting a breather/filter element with a 3/8 connection and rig it up that way? Any ideas?

Re: Vent Valve Ideas
I don't think it would because the valve has to hold some pressure (5 PSI maybe?) for evap emissions, yet still has to blow off when pressure is excessive. It also would have to hold fuel in case of a rollover.
I think the best bet is to retrofit from something newer. I just haven't researched it that far yet as to what drop in part would do the trick.

It blows off at 1 PSI, FYI.
Plug it and get a vented gas cap. They have a valve that opens at ~1 PSI tank pressure (look for something that fits from another 80s-era GM vehicle) but also has ability to draw air in under any amount of vacuum. It performs the same function as the separate valve used on a 3rd gen.

I was thinking about a vented gas cap also. Seen a few vented ones on e-bay for monte carlo/cutlass but Im not sure if they are able to draw air. Also I live in california where they try their hardest to get rid of the classics and get you a prius
