chasing code 32

chasing code 32
code 32 is the message for a bad EGR, mine was replaced and looks to be in good working order. the alternative to this is a bad ECM. my code is intermittent and after i clear the ECM it will come back on after a few days
here is what i know. the EGR valve
-itself was replaced and is working.
-the EGR passages are free and clear (not clogged)
-the solenoid is new
-temp sensor is getting 12 volts to it.
i am not sure the solenoid vacuum hoses are hooked up properly...pic is attached. for reference, the blue clip is the harness going into the solenoid
directly underneath it there is a rubber boot, the left hose goes to the EGR valve, the right hose goes to the intake manifold and provides the vacuum, how would i which connects to which port on the EGR solenoid??

Re: chasing code 32
No
it is a code for a fault somewhere in the EGR system ; the ECM is not "seeing" the valve open when it commands it to.
Could be a wiring / or ground problem on the temp sensor as much as a valve valve or vac problem

Re: chasing code 32
right, should not have said bad, agreed it indicates the system is not seeing EGR fumes. i've tried working through the diagram already, my problem is inconsistent and hard to track down though...when it happens the code will always trigger within 10 seconds after start up when there shouldn't be any demand for EGR. i don't believe it to be a bad ground on the temp sensor wire, as i get 12 volts out of it and it looks to be in fine shape. i am thinking a bad ECM maybe since it triggers so quickly?
BTW - i replied on a different thread before i saw your response but prefer to work off of this one...actually pumped when i saw you replied because it is obvious you are knowledgeable on the subject

Re: chasing code 32
so got back out there today and after some closer examination realized the guy who helped me install my EGR solenoid had the hoses hooked up backwards. reset the computer and sure enough the check engine light stayed off, idle seems a little smoother too but that's probably just in my head. didn't get a change to drive it yet but hoping it stays off. whats strange though is that the car ran fine for a few weeks with no engine light...it should have triggered at some point during those weeks if the ECM was not sensing EGR fumes. either way i'll drive it this weekend and see how it runs

Re: chasing code 32
guys i really need some input here
i went back out today, CODE 32 is back and the car is idle hunting now....revving up and down before it settles down around 800 rpms....yesterday it didn't do that after i reset the computer, it was idling great. the code came back on within like 10 seconds of starting it

Re: chasing code 32
I can feel the solenoid pulsing when I rev the engine, there is suction going to the EGR valve. The valve is new so I know it holds vacuum. I feel like my EGR system is working fine, so what the heck is causing this code?

Re: chasing code 32
so after a lot of research i am almost positive it is the EGR temperature switch, grounding itself when the ECM is not demanding EGR, hence the SES light after start up. going to order and replace it soon.
Vetteoz, i'm disappointed i didn't hear from you. you seem well versed in EGR issues from other threads
