V8 Engine Mounts
I am trying to change my engine mounts in my 91 GTA and I'm wondering if there are any tricks out there that I need to know, because right now it looks like I got to take the lower controls arms out to get at the nuts on the inside of the frame rail

Re: V8 Engine Mounts
It's much easier to do it with the springs and lower control arms removed (that's how I did it). However, it can be done with a universal joint on your ratchet, and a lot of patience, knuckle busting, and cussing (optional).

Re: V8 Engine Mounts
Since my car ain't a rare bird , and is only kept as a good weather daily driver , I took the easy way out ......
What's the easy way out , you ask ?
Well , I took my stick welder and with some creative bending of the welding rod , I was able to reach in between the control arms and frame and put a couple of small tack welds on each nut to affix them to the frame . I didn't weld them as though they had to hold up a battleship , just enough to get the bolts out (and back in) without all the BS of trying to snake socket extensions and swivels and such in there . If the future ever saw the need to remove the nuts it would take a couple of taps with a cold chisel and hammer to remove them . Took all of 5 minutes per side to replace the mounts after the nuts were tacked in there !
PS , mine's a V6 , but I see no reason why this method wouldn't work on a V8 as well .....
