There is a whine from the front of my engine. It is almost like a rattle. Has new alternator and water pump. Had mechanic look at it an he took of belt and noticed worn spot in belt. Checked all pulleys for bearing problems. New belt cut down the rattle so it isn't constant but you can still hear it and it will do it for a while and then seem to quiet down. Non A/C car.
There is a slight shudder in my engine while it is running. It is not constant, but comes on every 30 seconds for a couple seconds like it has a balance problem. The engine is a 305 tbi with automatic. With tranny in park or neutral it is still there.
The engine is stock with 330,000 km so might be just wear or a balance problem due to wear. If it goes I will probably have to sell the car and look for another one. Would like to put JEGS crate engine in it from gm. Don't have shop and would have to pay somebody else so $1500.00 on top of the Engine cost.
Only paid 3500.00 for the car. The rest of the car is very good with lots of new parts from Previous owner. Have shop receipts.
Any suggestions appreciated.

I just held my hand on tensioner and could feel it. like it was bottomed out
