Had fun on the way home from the track.

I wen to kilkare dragway tonight(ran 13.2@107) for some fun, but only got one run in. I was really looking forward to some good racing at the track, but I had to take it to the streets afterword.

First...a ***** civic comes weaving in and out of traffic(in the normal fashion...about 80 in a 55/w lots of traffic.) I hear the weeeee..... as he does a flyby, and decide not to waist my time and gas on him.

A little up the road...I hear a sweet exhaust note, and a 70 something vette rolls by at about 80. The car looks really clean and nice, and sounds like it has some power. I sped up to 85 to catch him, and notice we have a clear road ahead. As soon as my car got to his back bumper, I hear him go wot and it was on. I downshifted to d(still going 85) and pull like a madman. By the time I hit 100, I am passed him. I had about a carlength when I hit 110. Then I saw the red/blue lights of a trooper w/ a victom ahead and slowed down to the speed limit.

Overall it was a great night for the GTA. I still haven't lost on the street.

Sounds like a good night on street, but I would ran after that little Civic and teach him a thing or to about real cars.

I wonder if you mentioned the single 1/4 mile run just to keep this opened. Didnt know we couldnt talk about other types of racing besides 1/4 mile here (See other Thread).

Nice kill!! I think freeway racing at higher speeds is alot more fun than drag racing ... but then again I also prefer AutoX/SCCA over drag racing ... to me its more fun taking twisties fast, be it on a really windy mountain road or a 3 lane highway with some turns (maybe different in Hawaii from the mainland US because we hardly have any full on straightaway highways).

Why would he have to mention the 1/4 to keep this open? He raced a Vette. Good kill.

What thread are you referring to? The ***** flame bait one about the MTV special? I dont see any revelance to a real discussion about street racing between two vehicles anywhere in that thread.

Nah the MTV thread was jailbait from the start hahahah. The one entitled 'Is Drag Racing the only type of racing' here https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=124582

Kinda wanted to talk a little about freeway racing but I got it all out of my system on this thread. Hehhehe!!

No Worries Mon!! to keep the thread going, I got in a freeway race on the way home from Dinner Break today. Raced one of those new Audi TT's from a 50 mph roll. I was just cruzn along @ 60 in my new 92 B4C in the fast lane and saw some Ultrawhite lights comming up fast from behind. This is quite common here so I didnt think much of it but the guy slowed down and paced me. Then I looked over and I see him eyeing my car out so I roll down my window (5% black tint on black car) and give the signal to race (hold the hand out with index finger out .. stands for 'ONE TIME!!') and the guy flashes his hazards. So I flash my hazards for a bit and slow down to 50. Count down with my finger 3 .. 2 .. 1 .. and hammer it. I hear the guy downshift and a small woosh of the turbos (sounded stock). The B4C slams down to 2nd and I just took off violently!! Left the guy standing still!! Anyway, around 85 I must have been about 4 lengths in my rearview mirror but I could tell he was catching up. Shut it down @ 120 and I only had about 2 lengths. He caught right up and flashed me a Shaka (sign for good race, good fun). No fly-by here.

Then after I took my exit I came up to stoplight. Saw some bust up looking older honda accord weaving in and out of traffic behind me. So he pulls up to the stoplight and i see him look over. I didnt do anything but I see the cross street turning yellow. I giggled and when it hit green I hammered it off the line and spun for about 2 and 1/2 seconds. Left the poor guy way behind. Hahhaha. Dont wanna be mean but when someone drives reckless like hes some racer in a bust up car I enjoy shoving it down his throat.

Was 10 minutes early back from dinner break!! haahhaha

I was driving home from Great Lakes Wed. and I'm doing about 75 when this bone stock V6 accord pulls up next to me. I was like ok what are you doing? So I slow down thinking he just wants to pass and he slows down too. Well I've had enough of this clown so I start to accelerate up to about 85 and he's still there with me. Now I've had enough so I give him the look and he nods. I dropped it into drive and just absolutely left him. My dad was in the car and shut me down at about 120. I couldn't even see him anymore. I slow back down to about 70 and here he comes again. I was expecting the fly by, but instead he just followed me to his exit. I guess he just wanted to see what the bird could do. I thought these imports shined on the highway. My goal for this car is a mid 12 quarter and right around 1g on the skid. BTW I'd rather have a 502 becasue I wouldn't have to rebuild it every time I drove it. .02

Crazy,
I never read that thread before I saw the link on this one. The thread is pointless, because the solution is simple. OVERDRIVE!!!
Cars can be geared for that perfect 1/4 mile, but still have 2 more gears to catch. It's like magic.

I know there are many types of racing, thats why I have a car that can do it all. It has a built suspension for handling and traction. It has a built engine, for acceleration, and an overdrive tranny for top speed(I just wish it was a manual though )

I too raced an Audi TT a while back. The outcome was quite different, seeing as I only have a 305 and not a :hail: 350. We raced from about 20-30 mph and he passed me with ease.

That was my post. I just don't understand why people are so wound up about racing for 12 seconds when you can race for hours and have that same rush the whole time. We need an amature version of SCCA, GT, or the Trans Am series where we can run our street cars for fun. Any way, I just think there are OTHER forms of racing

in europe.. it's all about top speed.. more or less.. they don't have many speed limits.. and they arn't inforced as much as us..

go 120 down the freeway for more then 10 minutes..... tell me if they impounded ur' car for endagerment and even suicial tendencies..
12 seconds.. a 1/4 mile.. down flat roads.. u can see if there's any cars comming.. and it's shut down before anybody can get there and so forth..
easier to have a drag racing track then a road course built..
we've always had mucle cars.. were they ever built for road courses?.. no.. for drag..
europeans have always had scca type stuff going..
tell me of a couple of european drag type cars that could hang with a 400 poncho, 426 hemi, 427 bbc, 440 six pack, 428 cj...
we've always been about drag racing.. and that's the way it is...

There are many BMWs that could hang with those cars.
