Who would win? Me vs S2000.

So this guy in my apartment complex bought an s2000, an 00, or 01 or something, 4 banger, that's about all I know. So he starts talking trash about my giant american POS car (so my car looks like crap, I'm workin on it!
and he wants to race. I tell him OK, but now he's kinda worming out of it. So if we do race, any ideas on who would win? What do those things run stock?

How can you even ask this question, Your car with a stock 305 might give him a run for his money. But your running a 383 and a lot of mods (including 3.73, big advantage). You will wax him as long as your car has a decent tune on it.
This question is like who would win in a game of Basketball Micheal Jordan (10 years ago) or me (now, 5'11", White boy with no ball skills), Hmmm (psst I'd be the s2000).
Go wax him,
p.s. white men can't jump, and I can't play Basketball

Oh yea I forgot, afterwards at the hot tub party, get a few supermodels #'s for me. It would be greatly appreciated:hail:
Good Luck, Garrett

Alright, I'll try and get supermodels numbers for everyone!!!

Sounds about how I thought though. I just needed some back up cause I wasn't completely sure how fast those things run

You should take him, S2000s are notoriously difficult to extract maximum performance from, due to the quirky powerband. Yes, they make 240 horses stock, and yes the specific output is 120 HP/L, but it's torque is laughable (35 lb-ft @ about 35,000 rpm
). When it first was put into production, the major automotive mags (motor trend, car and driver, road and track) were showing as much as two seconds difference in the 0-60 times they acheived with the car. Point being, you really have to wring the car out to get really good performance out of it.

Ok, if you didn't have all those mods, it'd be close. With an S2000, you have to drive that **** like a 16 year old that just stole it. They make ALL their power at really high RPMS, I can't remember exactly, but they rev to like 9-10K stock, they used their motorcycle technology/engineering to make that engine. If he doesn't know how to drive that car, he isn't going to click off those killer times that they get in the magazines and such. You should be able to decimate him.

ive only seen 1 s2000 at the track before and i was kind of disappointed, he was running 15.3-15.4, i thought they were faster but like they said its hard to get all the potential performance out of them....u will walk over him easily...you should tape it and put it on the net so i can show my ***** buddies that the godly s2000 is slow

yea i agree with you and normally dont judge cars just by what i see at the track, but all i was saying is i was disappointed to see whats supposed to be a quick car running 15s....granted an s2000 would walk all over me but thats not my point

So if he doesn't keep backing out I'll try and tape it, but he's being really squirmy now. Maybe I should race him for slips?
I'll make sure he isn't running N20 or anything first of course

Why the heck are you guys bickering about wheather it's a 13 or 15 sec car???? It makes no sence. BlacKnight should be in the low 12's, or better with his setup!!! And the fact that s2000s come factory tuned to about their max, engine mods are expensive, and not always very effective, I think the rich ***** has no chance.
Lets not start a huge argument(like the one that occoured when I posted about beating an s2000 in a highway race)
He will only see your taillights. Thats all we need to know.

depends how u race him, you talking 1/4 mile? sure you'll beat him with no problem, now take this to the open highway for a top end race you'll probably be staring at his taillights...
these cars SCREAM top end with their high RPM power.
As far as the varying timeslips for the S2000, these cars are VERY hard to launch, you have to get it just right, if you fall out of the power band forget it, you're dead in the water...

i've raced one with 3 people in the car and from a stop he couldn't touch me ( he wasn't a good driver) but from a roll he bearly pulled away. i'm not impressed with their acceleration but the handle like monsters. 383 and 3.73 will destroy him from a stop and a roll with no problem.

Well if I only seen some guys run S2000's at the track and only seen some guys run 383 Camaro's at the track and the Camaro's are like 3 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile I don't think the S2000 is going to win. I don't care who drives unless they just can't drive.
I just got done racing an S2000 in my 88' IROC-Z.. Refer to this post for the story and S2000 Performance #'s I got from Car/Driver.
