Ugly Camaro vs. 01 Beetle

ok, some annoying girl in my english class saw me driving my camaro 2 days ago, then today she says, is that car yours? i said yea, and she says, well its kinda ugly. I said WHAT!!, r u crazy? then she told me her 2001 beetle was better looking than my almost flawless camaro and that it would easily smoke my camaro, im supposed to race her pretty soon, who do u think will win, my car 91 camaro rs, is all stock, except 3" exhaust and flowmaster muffler. My engine is a 305 TBI with only 1,200 miles on it. even if i lose, my car still looks cool, and I think only people with brain damage think a bug looks cooler than a camaro.

Unless its a newer turbo beetle (which i doubt it is) you will have no problem. The 2001 GLS beetle comes with a 115hp, 120ftlbs 1.8 liter 4cyl, does a speed 18sec quarter. the two turbos (the glx and the gls turbo) come with 150hp and weigh in at almost 3000lbs. So maybe even with a turbo (haven't heard times on those) you might beat her. But if its a regular, or hevan forbid, a tdi, you should easily take her.

You need not have any worries. I raced a beetle(turbo?) a while ago and it wasn't close. Just race her off the line and get it over with quick.

LoL, those are some stupid looking cars. They look like if you hit the brakes too hard they'll start rolling down the street forward.

hahahha, I hate yet love people like that at the same time. Just makes me laugh and shake my head. You can't really call them idiots or whatever tho... majority of people out there really don't have any clue as to what is 'aerodynamic' or a 'good stance' for a sports car or what cars actually are sports cars period. Put her in her place and even after I bet she'll still makeup some excuse or just say that ya barely beat her or something retarded. TAKE HER DOWN!

A 4 cylinder s-10!@! You should be able to beat that thing without even trying. Just don't loose, you will give us camaro guys a bad wrap.

You have to race this chick, just to prove her wrong. I once had a girl in high school who thought her civic was faster than my IROC because it was newer. Well, I met her on the freeway once and showed her the power of a v8. She was cool after that, we would go hang out and do stuff. Who knows, maybe if she is hot my might get something out of it. HAHA j/k

First off, the Turbos can run high 15s. I have always liked the Beetles, old and new, but they're not sports cars, definitely not muscle cars.

Keep one thing in mind. Automatics are slower than Manuals with these cars-ALWAYS. There's usually quite a bit of difference. The auto standard Beetle gets to 60 in 10 seconds, with the Manual, it's quicker.

If it IS auto...with the 115 hp engine...NAIL her to the wall. But let's have a little respect for...ze Germans.

About the S10...Here's a little incident that I find funny...

Long straightaway somewhere near the TN river. 2 lanes. This newer s10 is pressing the hell out of me in the Crown. I had two other people riding along. This guy was bumpering me on curves and he had his satandard issue Sarah Michelle Geller-looking, dying of starvation girlfriend with him. So the straightaway came up. I hit the top of a hill and floored it, pulling away. from 55..65..75...and then, looking in my rear view, this nut moves over to pass..AS HE'S FALLING AWAY. I couldn't believe it. At that point, I was holding about 70 mph, he was slowly approaching it. Fearing for their safety, with a car approaching, I hit the brakes rather hard, dropping to about 50 mph. The *** passed, his girl was trying to act all cool, so was he...but his truck was screaming a high RPM. Slowly passing, yet screaming. 4 cylinder. Truck was rather clown like without the crazy colours. It was a descent shade of red, but it had some typr of custom exhaust-not a can- and all kinds of body mods, including a wing. His reckless driving pissed me off, so, after he passed, I floored it again. He was still wide open, so it took a little while, about 1/8 mile, to catch him again. He had gotten slowed down by the cars up ahead anyway. I was pulling up to his bumper, when he moved over and floor it again...passing 3 or 4 vehicles!! He was riding on a wing and a prayer, certainly. He almost met a semi head on, before he whipped the truck into the correct lane, nearly fishtailing. I was sweating at this point, but I seriously wanted to get close enough to ask what the hell was wrong with him. I passed the van ahead, passed to car in front- 1 at the time. At this point, there was one car between us, but he was pretty far ahead. Then I saw him pass on a curve...that's it...I'm out. In the slight chance that he's running from me, I don't want to cause his and his girl's death, even indirectly.

In short, 4 cylinder S10s are jokes as far as performance goes. I've beaten 4s and 6s from traffic lights. Same thing every time, they bark their tires, bark second, and give up. I would be a little afraid of a Vortec, though, especially if it's modded.

geez, thats a crazy story, some people must be totally messed up to drive the way they do, and i bet ill have a good story or two after i race the s-10 and the beetle, cause all this girl does is talk ****, about how he is getting NOS in a few months and all this stuff, and about how a beetle IS considered a sports/racing car. lol she and her bro will probably drive crazy to prove how sporty their cars are. or arent, lol

Typical r i c e r behavior. I see a lot of fools in riced out POS's on the roads around here, swerving in and out of traffic as if the roads were race tracks.

Maybe they think if they go fast enough their huge wings will help 'em get airborn and avoid traffic.

lol, even though its funny to think about, if it really happens, i want no part of it, thats why i dont get all the idiots out there, they drive like *******s and dont care who they hurt. My motivation for not driving like an idiot is an experience my uncle had, he ran into a stalled driver on the freeway from behind at 60 mph, my uncle did nothing wrong, cause the guy he hit didnt even have his hazard lights on, but the guy he hit died, and my uncle acts totally different now, like he sees things from a totally different point of view. I cant imagine dealing with the situation, like he did.

It's sad, but with a lot of people it takes something like that to realize that we're doing is wrong or dangerous. I'm not waiting for that with my ride. I am always extra careful when I'm out on the road. But then again sometimes even driving like a grandma doesn't guarrantee safety.

Hey...uhhh...whatever the hell your name is...VERY GOOD POINT above.
"Driving like Grandma doesn't guarantee safety."
Well said. Also could be broadened and said as "You gotta die somehow." BUT...Alot of people take that the wrong way- for instance...chain smokers. What it means is this. Take care of youself, be careful, watch out for other, but relax. Death comes to us all and there is no need to worry yourself until that point. Live each day like it's your last, but don't try to make it your last.

That being said, the girl in the Beetle is a stupid ****ing bitch.

Hope she isn't a friend of yours.

no, shes not my friend shes just an idiot, and i have had many arguments with my dad about driving speed, he always tells me u should never drive the speed limit, cause its way too fast, then i bring up that not going with the flow of traffic is dangerous because people have to speed up and slow down around you all the time, making a risky situation, especially in a lot of traffic

Good point. Here's a situation...

Country highway. A woman is driving along at 55 mph. People are distantly behind her doing the same. An animal runs out into the road. Woman slows down to 15-25 briefly. Traffic catches here before she can get up to speed. They slow down and all rise to 55 once more. Only now, they are bumper to bumper. 6 cars all moving the exact speed. A deer runs out. Car 1 locks up, car 2 hits car 1, car 3 swerves into oncoming traffic, car 4 hits car 2, car 5 swerves off of the road, driver of car 6 is unharmed but car is damaged.

See my point? If he expects you to go under...then shouldn't everyone? You CANNOT stay exactly on the limit.

you also make a really good point

Like u said, when i am driving with my dad, at his 5-10 mph below the speed limit people can catch up and there is always someone right on his tail. so... driving fast, to a certain extent, is better than driving slow.

this subject also reminds me of two of my friends that were messing around one night. one of my friends was tailgating the other and as the were coming to an intersection, the light turned yellow and the friend in front slowed, and the friend in back thought he would go through, and when he didnt go through the friend in the back had no time to stop and ran into the back of my other friend. driving without your brain is never good

This board is like the other I was on a few days ago. It was basically about stupid people with there ricers trying to race camaros, you should check it out because it is quite funny. I think it is titled "diots wanns Race" I cant stand people that are always trying to race and prove themselves. Most people that try to race dont even have a fast car. They just drive stupid thinking it makes there car look fast or something!

Another thing I can't understand is how these riced out import drivers can stand that noise that they get from their fart pipes. That's all it is, is noise. You put a true exhaust system on an American V8 and not only does it improve performance, but also has a mean, agressive sound. The noise from the imports sounds more like a sound effect that came from a cartoon or something.

It is pretty funny, and today i saw a guy at my school showing a teacher his civics engine and i kinda laughed as i walked by, then the kid looks up and says "well what do u drive" i pointed to my camaro, which i washed and waxed last night, and the kid says "Oh" and has a really stupid/suprised look on his face. then i laughed some more and walked away.

oh yea BTW, i didnt just laugh cause im an *******, i laughed cause he had like 20 stickers all over the engine and car and the thing looked stock, except for some ugly rims.

haha, dude you'll freakin kill her beetle. i have a '92 camaro, 3.1L V-6, pumping out a whopping 140hp and i've raced a new beetle before. you'll see her entire car in your review mirror in 3-4 sec. haha make sure to post the results of your "race" with her after it happens.

We get those riced out stockers at work often. I laugh all the time, point out whats useless and how stupid and confused the person is....I dont always see the driver, but the ones I have seen fit the image. I've never had the pleasure of making fun of the person....but its not a good idea to do that at work....if I was off work, then you bet I would.

No worries on the S-10 with the 4cyl. Raced several of em in my L03 RS auto all stock with no launch, just slammed the gas in overdrive and pulled away like they're standing still. Most likely he'll drop the clutch too, because they all seem to think that proves they have power. Oh well.

I will never forget when my friend Travis baught a 96 Civic and he *******-d it out. He finally thought that he had a car that would be faster than my friends 70 Chevelle and my 92 RS. He tried to race me and I blew his doors off. He was able to keep up for a bit but never stood a chance. Now this unfortunatley is not always the case because there are times that there are ricers that are quik. Majority of the time though it is not the case and it is just people turning there hammy down family car into a wannabe race car with stickers all over it and IT IS OUR JOB TO MAKE THEM IN THEIR PLACE!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunatly they are always bothering me because my car stands out so much with two full length stripes and a SS hood so I am always hearing that farting noise.

The thing to do with the kids that THINK they are Fast is show them up in something they never even considered would get them. My winter rat is an '89 Buick Century, just rolled over 176k miles last week. Rotting to death, paint peeling, no humpcaps... its the poster child for a car on the way to a junkyard. Only thing is, its one HELL of a sleeper. I've gotten under 16 with it repeatedly at the local strip, a best of 15.6. Thats what kind of car you need for killing the ricers with... nothing is worse than loosing to a beater. The car is indestructable... the 3.3 still doesn't burn any oil... and the 3spd auto has seen more wide open shifts then I'll probably ever get out of my TH700R4, yet still works beautiful. I'll buy another one when this ones gone... this is my second one, and they just don't get old.

  RACE HER!!! and win with pride I know I would, and just for the heck of it I would give her a head start and pass her at lightning speeds and just keep it floored, winning is cool, but completely beating them in a race as if they were standing still is the best. trust me I know, I was the losing car,,,, manytimes

If your car is an automatic make sure to start off in first gear and manually shift up threw the gears. You dont want to start off in a high gear because you would be screwed. If you smoke her do not give her another chance!!!!

Who cares. Hot or dog-faced, she still needs to be taught a lesson. And I agree with giving her a head start. When she loses it'll be even more humiliating. hehe.
