I saw a guy(yes, in person) run 12.97 with NOTHING done to his '99 Z. How's that for paper information? And I do believe they quit making turbo 3000gt's in '97 or '98 can't remember which. In any case, anything can happen on the street, we all know this for a fact. Even at the track for that matter. So go find one, race it with a good driver, and find out...
they made vr4's through 1999.

If he won't get one, why bother asking?

Pretty sure you could. Those 3000 GT's are fat pigs and the non-turboed models are push overs.

there are even a few pushing the 11.99 or lower border bone stock even down to the tires

hell I remember hearing of a guy with a bone stock ls1 camaro pulling a 12.8

gm doesn't even give a good story as to what the cars are capable of

What are you talking about? The 160HP 3.0L SOHC-powered SL model doesn't weigh anything near 3700lbs. The SL and standard "3000GT" both weigh in around where a Thirdgen weighs, if not a little less.

SL motor...
3.0L SOHC with 160HP

GT motor...
3.0L DOHC with 222HP

VR-4 motor...
3.0L DOHC twin-turbo with up to 320HP in later models (300HP in early models)

The VR-4 does weigh a lot more, mainly because of the AWD/AWS options. Your 305TBI will get raped by a VR-4, and will have trouble with a standard GT. Might have a chance against the SL though. SL = SLOW

I was looking at buying one of these last year because I think they look awesome. The VR-4s had some cool stuff like a speed-sensitive adjustable spoiler and the AWS. Twin-turbo is cool too of course. Then again, all of this stuff comes at a pretty hefty price, and very expensive repairs...not to mention another 400lbs of weight. Nevertheless, they are very quick cars for weighing 3800lbs and only having 300HP.
