Dyno shop compilation vid

http://www.videocartel.com/videos/eppfinal.mpg

No racing content, but a worthwhile download. Blown Cobras, ProCharged LS1's, Lightnings, some old school muscle, misc other domestic muscle and one BADA$$ 3rd gen Camaro!

Huge file, 56K users stay far far away!

That really sucks! The 3rd gen dyno starts at 1:30!! Just over 4 minutes, nearly 60megs.

Only numbers I have are for the ATI ProCharged Hugger Orange Z28. He put down 544rwhp on that dyno run in the vid. Keep in mind that your looking at a Mustang dyno. DynoJet numbers (which are much more common) would show right around 600rwhp. Car has gone low low 11s in the 125 range, at Norwalk, bouncing off the rev limiter from the 1000' to the traps. Oh yeah, 100,000 mile stock bottom end!

BTW - That 3rd gen Camaro RS is a BBC car.

Yeah, that happened with my car too at a local dyno day over the summer.

I only have slp headers with a borla setup, but it gets LOUD when you really lean on it!

I just put a borla kit on my ls1 car and it does not sound any where near as good.

LS1 exhausts sound like crap IMO. Its not the same firing order. I love the way mustangs, SBC's and LT1's sound. All deep and throaty.

Werd. Man was I disappointed!

It does sound good when you hammer it, but the rest of the range is kinda ho-hum. Maybe when I put headers on it will sound better. I know my camaro did.

I bet a nice cam would make your ls1 sound way better, I was riding with my buddy in his stage 2 srt-4 when he got WAXED by a 00 or so SS and I asked him at the next light what he had he said custom grind cam and by looking from behind the car there was dual pipes to mufflers with turndowns.. this thing was just a little loud for my taste but it sounded wicked...

Could someone fill me in on how dyno runs are performed?
I thought that you were supposed to take the reading at a 1:1 gear ratio.. like 3rd gear in most sticks right? Ive never seen anyone dropping the clutch on a dyno like that and powershifting? like i said fill me in I dont know but I just dont like the looks of that.. if it was my car anyway.. maybe they were just screwing around?

there is a dyno right buy my house. So i have seen a lot of cars dyno. I have never seen anyone just go threw the gears like that. Usually just get into third and hit it. Maybe they were just messing around. Good vid.

That diesel with the duallys was waaaayyy cool. That video is pretty cool. I was wondering about the shifting also, Ive never seen that done. He was granny, not powershifting tho, power shifting sounds like rrrrrrrrRRRRRrrrrrrrRRRRRrrrrrr(gear-shift-gear-shift-gear )

Sweet video, though it would have been nice to see numbers with the pulls.

On the Mustang dyno I took my IROC to, they had an option to run through the simulated 1/4 mile. That's most likely what those guys were doing.
It's fairly accurate from what I've heard, as long as you enter the correct weight. My '89 ran a 14.3 @ 97 on that dyno, I let off for a second at the 2-3 shift because it didn't seem to want to shift.
When I ran it at the strip, I went 14.1 @ 97.8 with a clean WOT run. Both times I just let off the brake and stabbed the throttle to launch (Any stalling up caused massive wheelspin), the 60' at the strip was 1.99 (on cheapo 275/40/17 street tires).

That Cobra is supercharged, from the factory. It's either a pullied stock Eaton or a Kenne Bell Blowzilla due to the whine being much louder than stock. Ford's Lightning, Pontiac's GTP, and pretty much every car that uses that Eaton style supercharger sounds similar. And IMO after running around in a friends modded Lightning, the whine gets old real quick!

That would definately explain your unsatisfactory sound. I can't wait to finish downloading this vid, I bet that BBC sounds like hell on wheels.

Kick *** video Marc. That red LS1 Z sound supercharged as well, that thing was a tire frying machine. I liked the thirdgen too though, it was putting a pretty good hurtin on that dyno. Awesome vid, good stuff.
