Racing a turbo civic
Need opinions on how good my chances are on winning.
He has a new but not brand new civic hatchback, not an si. Hes running a turbo at 8psi "on the red." Hes making 135 horsepower at the wheels, i watched it dyno yesterday. I forgot how much torque.
We're gonna race once from a dead stop, which im really confident about. But then we're racing from 2nd gear at 50 mph which im not so confident about. He should be pretty spooled up at that speed and gear. I think i should just edge him out but idk.

What does "on the red" mean? 135whp is pretty weak, that sounds like just another 16 second car. An Si should dyno 135 whp now that I think about it. Sounds like he wasted his money. lol Good luck.

i'm gonna take a shot and say "on the red" is referring to where the boost guage is reading?
i think you will win both races.
did the vette and the gt he was running realize he was racing them? that would explain how he won.

a strong L98 versus 135whp civic, its all L98
not even close. most civics will dyno 110-120whp with a few bolt ons. turbo kit shoudl be damn well near 200whp with 8psi.
a 200 wheel civic hatch is fairly quick. they can go higher 13's.
i raced a civic hatch with a GSR supercharged and 35 shot spray
he missed 4th gear and i ended up winning by a car to a car and a half at the end of the 1/4mph. i got him off the line well but he was pulling back. i would bet he is making well over 200whp.
any less than that a l98 should win easy.
what gears do you have? if 3.27's go from 40-45mph roll so you can keep her in the middle of second gear

No, 8 psi by redline doesn't make sense. That turbo is way too small to only reach full boost at redline, it's not a supercharger. It should reach full boost around 4,000 rpm.

Yeah, dumb high school kids come up with all kinds of stupid **** like that. It's been a while since I've really been into the scene enough to hear what all the idiots say.

sounds like "on the red" means hes making 8 psi at his shift point
which is highly unimpressive if hes only making 135 rwhp. sad day for a honda lover.
