91 RS vs. Late 60's Gutless Supreme

Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've posted a kill on here, but here goes.

It's the middle of July and I'm bored as hell. Instead of cracking a beer at noon, a buddy and I pile into my car for a little cruise. I say pile because he's easily 240 pounds and all of 5 and half feet tall.

We start off down a side street and I make a quick left onto a four lane. I notice a really nice looking Blue Cutlass and hold first gear just long enough to scratch second. This Cutlass then starts closing on me quick. Upon seeing his frontend raise slightly I floor it and hold him off without a problem.

He comes up next to me and is visibly pissed off that his car couldn't overtake me. I understand because his girl is in his car and at this time she probably thinks I have a bigger suasage. He starts off about how we should go from a dig and gives me this look like 'I'm screwed now'. I leisurely agree.

As he speeds up I reach into my back seat and turn the bottle to kill, just so there's no confusion as to the victor. Keep in mind this road has a 35 MPH speed limit.

I again pull beside him at 30 and drop my car into second gear. He looks over all pissed off. I dont know if he was pissed at me, or the 70 bucks he probably spent filling his car with race gas (smelled nice). Instead of waiting for a light he jumps a car length on me at 30. A chase is a race and I put my foot to the firewall figuring it will look especially bad if he gets the jump and the loss.

The nitrous is flowing now and after a brief period of tire shredding I reel this guy in at about 65. My car is pulling like a train even with my tubby buddy shotgun. As I pass the Cutlass I hear his girl screaming "I DON"T WANT TO GO ANY FASTER!!!
Hearing this I began laughing and missed my shift to 3rd, winding second out to almost 7000RPM oops. Grab third and quickly shut down around 85 or 90.

I let him catch up to give the thumbs up and he points out that my car is smoking. I say "yeah, smokin' you".

Turns out my car was was smoking and dropped a cylinder. double oops. The motor is out now and being inspected. Nothing appears to be wrong. Thought I burned a piston....guess not.

Sorry for the long post, enjoy

I've got my mom and dads gutless number matching mondello built 442's if you want a better race.

Nice kill.

Funniest thing I have heard all day. You missed 3rd gear in an AUTO??? Wow...

Just wow!

I have known guys to miss gears and blow cars up with sticks, but in an auto???

Wow!

Yeah I felt like a moron. It wasn't so much that I missed it as I forgot to shift altogether.

On a 150 shot, it winds out pretty fricken' quick and I think we can all agree that the stock auto shifter is a not exactly a precision piece.

What does the Mondello trap by the way?

The car I raced was a 442 for what it's worth.

if it is a 442 then its not a cutlass. The 442, while exact in body, was completely upgraded model. The 1968 442s my dad owns. (he calls one of them my moms to keep her interested) are a standard 400 ci olds small block, from the factory they ran 365+ hp at the crank, using old methods. Mondello, an olds racing team and motor company built both my dads, .40 over, all forged/race internals and all head cam work.

Crank dyno puts them both at 470 hp. Big old car, th400 tranny and all that weight, the car should run a 13 I imagine. We don't run them at the track yet, but I will get some times this spring. I have however been riding shotgun in several races and the olds is 10 for 10 on the street against a wide variety of stuff. But then again, almost 600 lbs of torque is great.

You'll have to pardon my lack of Oldsmobuick knowledge. The Mondello cars sound like fun. If you were closer I'd definitely line up with you.

No worries. Without the right amount of work, any 60's car is going to be lackluster. And besides, nice darn kill.
For all you know the guy made a 442 clone, tons of those out there.

As for stu, nice questions dude. lol.

Oh dont worry, he mentioned that in his original post. How the girl in the other car must have thought he had a bigger "sausage" because he had a faster car!

Maybe you guys didn't catch the sarcasm in the first post, but the sausage comment was a joke.... so take your and your little smokies and stick 'em in your crock pot.

My window was down and so was hers, she was yelling at the dude.

I call on your B.S. call.

bunch of fun haters man....sheesh!

Here's a fabricated story for practice:

Projects car and 25th's Mustang were given 3 cars and the jump on me and almost had a chance....oops....hehe

LOL, so you needed nitrous to beat that guy?? You must not have too hot of a car. That engine compartment doesnt impress me at all., neither does the bottle. If you were near me, id race you without a doubt. You want to talk about 60's boats....run me in my Chevelle.

If you reread the post you'll see I didn't turn the bottle on beat it, I turned it on to SMEAR him. Furthermore, I did not build the car to impress you, I built it to beat you. Judging by your numbers, mission accomplished.

Stu...are you just typing for practice? Do you have a hot car? Ever seen the movie 'Tau of Steve'?

just adding the sausage fight - Nick

LOL!!! Gimme a break! Sorry son, but the last time I checked, 13.0 is just a wee bit SLOWER than 12.40's. Let me throw a set of slicks on my car and Im VERY low 12's, possibly high 11's with open headers judging by my 60' and mph. So I think im the one who should be saying "mission accomplished". I built my car to run quick all the time...not when I have an extra $50 to go fill a bottle. Get real!

maybe you meant 12.0 is just a shade faster than 12.40. PS- the 12 was on a wee 100 shot.

yeah open headers, sounds like a daily driver to me. You're the one who wants to drag your Chevelle out to beat my thirdgen and you're calling me a cheater. right...

you don't hear me talking about my '98

Yeah ok...why dont you learn how to build a car thatll beat me ON MOTOR and you might earn a little respect from somebody. Not to mention, my car weighs 600-700lbs more than yours. Dork. What else you wanna say thatll prove me right???

Oh, by the way...I only have $1100 into my 454 including machine work, which probably isnt half of what you have into that boat anchor youre running around with.

Ok kid...think what you want. Better go tell your dad some guy in the internet is making fun of you and you need some more money to mod your joke of a car. BTW, I noticed in your profile you think youre a powerlifter? Id make an *** out of you in that category too. So keep dreaming about beating real cars, and see what else you can waste your parents money on. You have a lot to learn about racing if you dont think a car thats over .5 and 6mph faster than you on street tires isnt killing you. If you understand anything, why dont you take a look and my 60'....my stock L69 in my MSE pulls 60's in the 2.0x range. Im killing you now, let alone when I bolt on a set of slicks and get in the 1.6-1.8 range. Now we can continue this argument, but all youll accomplish is you will make yourself look like a bigger moron than you already have. By the way, have you learned how shift that automatic yet, or are you still missing third gear? LOL!!!!!!!

Somebody lock this. This kid might start to cry soon.
