Out cornered a 2000 C5!!!!

An electrician where I work is always yacking about his Corvett this and Corvett that, and how he is such a good driver that he turns off the trac control because he can drive better than a computer.
There is no way my 91 Firebird will even come closed to the cornering abilities of his car. But, On the way to work, he was behind me as we are aproaching a 90deg right turn-in going about 50mph, as soon as I turned in I nailed it and caught a perfect slide with the wheel locked opposite, I just layed on the gas and held it until she wiggled the back to the right and then eased down. I looked in the mirror just in time to see him let off the gas when the Vett started to slide the rear out sideways and of course it wipped him back to the right then left into the muddy grass. He spun out of the grass and back on the road going the other way.
After I get to work, everybody is laughing when I tell about what happened, then he walks up and several people are teasing him and he denies the whole thing! Says he has no clue what we are talking about. At breaktime, we went to look at his Vett and there is grass and mud just hanging off it everywhere! he still denies it, but the ruts don't lie!!

Future plans include "a few aftermarket parts"

I have owned my Firebird for 12 years, and I know that many new cars can outrun and out corner mine. Just remember that you are racing the other driver and not the other car.

Ya it usually comes down to the skill of the driver. That guy proably thought his car was untouchable beacuse of what it is.

Sounds like you just outdrove him. With proper driving I would put his car against yours.

I think that C5 owner now lives in denial. He could have at least said good race.

There was no race, they both took the turn wrong and one crashed.

Wrong because I don't consider taking a turn too hot and over correcting around the apex "outdriving."

EDIT: The guy in the C5 still sounds like a tool though.

Im sure a c5 could take that bird if both drivers were equally matched. Funny story though.....

I think we all know the vette out preforms the bird, thats a given. The point of the story is the guy thought he was hot stuff yapping away and when it came down to it turns out it was all just as everyone suspected. I can relate to this story I think we all have run in to this type of guy

hey stu i think he, like alot of us, was just trying to show off and hung the rear out going around a corner. I'm pretty sure that was his goal, not a perfectly excecuted corner, plus he proved he was a better drive by being able to do a controlled slide. I know you can't slide with a FWD honda but try to keep up with the class.

Apparently you are not familiar with the art of "hand braking"

Guys, this thread had little to no street racing merit to begin with. There was no race only a story about an idiot who can't drive.
