T/A vs 05 stang

Okay so one of the guys out here in Iraq on base with me talks smack to me everyday about his Mustang whoopin me and my cars apparently got nothing done to it so weve decided that in 14 months when we get back home were gonna hit the strip.. Heres my car and mods,

1984 T/A
2 bolt 350 bored .030 over with domed pistons
voodoo cam Lift: .504''/.525'' Duration: 276°/284° plus Comp 1.6rr's
ported GMPP Vortec heads 65cc chambers around 11.0:1 CR
Weiand stealth air strike duel plane manifold
Holley 650 DP
Headman shorties
Flowmaster 3in catback magnaflow cat
No a/c/smog or emissions crap
T-5 with Ram HDX clutch and Pro 5.0 shifter
10 bolt with 3.73 posi gears and T/A girdle
BMR subframe connectors and wonderbar

His car is stock for now but he wants a whipple charger or something similar i doubt it will happen tho.. Also its a manual with like 3.08 gears i believe.. Anyone got some input on how this will go down? Even if he got the supercharger? Im sure I wouldnt have too much of a chance then but just wondering..

If he had the S/C, I'm sure it would be a fast car but without it, I'm sure you'll hand his *** to him nicely

Sounds like youve got all the right stuff. I would venture to say that you should win.

Assuming a decent tune and driver of course...

He has 3.55 gears, and he could toss a blower on there. Friend of mine has a Kenne Bell whippled 06 GT, and we ran him in an 07 GT500, and were neck and neck from 2nd to the top of 4th, neither car pulling at all.

Actually that's incorrect, because those cars are much nicer then third-gens.

I wouldn't mind using one as a DD, especially with a little boost or nitrous...

Am I the only one that is sick of seeing Mustangs. Do you even notice them anymore. Every ugly fat women and loser guy in America thinks he is Joe cool driving a "stang". Well lets look at something. Smokey and the Bandit.........drove a mustang? NO A TRANS AM. The network show KNIGHTRIDER! Even, as I have heard, the soft core "witches of Breastwick,' the guy drove a black TRANS AM, as I have heard. Now, what movies did a Mustang star in................... TV series................ Softcore ****,as I have been told.................. Maybe if we check "fat ugly women gone wild".LOL

That was a '68 as they portrayed the '68 Charger as well. Eleanor for the win!

Re: T/A vs 05 stang

Well your car definately sounds nice. I was wondering about your RPM range though. Is your cam a hydo or mech roller. With that duration you'd get quite a bit more range than with a mech instead of a hyd believe it or not. Either way though it sounds as if it is really not going to come down to who is the better driver unless he throws that SC on there. And either way you look at it you still have a TA and he has a box on wheels lol. Good Luck Man!

Re: T/A vs 05 stang

its hydroulic* and its not in the engine just yet.. Im thinking about going bigger and using the edelbrock 200cc e-tecs.. shave some wieght off the front and get some more power up top.. the low-mid range is excellent right now but its kinda lacking the top end.. any suggestions/comments?

Re: T/A vs 05 stang

Dude what type of a race is it going to be a roll or a dig? And how much boost is he going to be running? If he is going to be running like 6-7psi with no other upgrades to the car he should still lose i think. But if you want to make sure he doesn't win just hit your car with a shot of crack.

Re: T/A vs 05 stang

From the dig it'll be whoever is the better driver (if he gets the supercharger) Because he might just smoke the tires off the getgo. From a roll if he still has his stock gearing then he'll grab you up top and he might get even have midrange power on you (supercharger needed of course). Find out if thats the only thing he is going to do to it because just a supercharger bolton isn't as effective without the rest of the motor getting worked.

Re: T/A vs 05 stang

Theres a list of probably 150+ movies with Mustangs in them, whether starring in them or making an appearance. I don't think this proves much though, as there are tons of cars that make Mustangs and Fbodies look like childs play that don't star in movies.

Different people think different cars are cool. I loved the Smokey and the Bandit car, but also loved the Bullitt car. Both great actors in great chase scenes.

Re: T/A vs 05 stang

He bought the Saleen Supercharger, I think Im screwed until I actually stop being lazy and build my vortec 383, anyways, as of right now hes just got that and some nitto 555's with a slipping clutch, pretty sure he said somewhere around 10 psi? Whatd you guys think?

Re: T/A vs 05 stang

Well it sounds like you need a power adder or more cubes. BTW what year stang is it? If you go 383 you should take it easy. I raced a 97 or 98 cobra with a procharger at 10 psi and a few bolt ons. I got him every race, and that was with 3.23 gears and my motor still had tech problems.
