If the civic is not boosted, the GTA will smoke it. A nice addition of headers will improve your car a bit tho.

What a moron, 3 lengths?? You could be missing on 2 cylinders and still not get beat by 3 lengths.

Re: 89 GTA vrs 95 CIVIC vtec b18c5
I believe that generation of civics is a tad bit heavier than the previous gens, that motor will give any honda SOME ***** but not enough to beat your GTA. It might be a close race though if you go a longer distance, honda's usually tend to be good over long distances and not right out of the hole im my experience. Id watch out though, you dont list a VTEC controller but thats what that chip might be, if he can adjust when VTEC hits he might be able to suprise you.
a 95 civic type-R in japan, stock from factory weighs about 2600lbs according to google.

Re: 89 GTA vrs 95 CIVIC vtec b18c5
in a real race, from a dead stop. about an 1/8th mile the gta has it by far, if he hooks good.. if youre just going to keep going more than a 1/4 mile then yes, the civic maybe able to creep up on you. but thats not racing. so keep the race short and sweet, and you should stomp on that civic.

Re: 89 GTA vrs 95 CIVIC vtec b18c5
IMO, the civic doesnt have enough in it, the thing here is torque which we all know a 350 has a crap load of and we all know 4 cyl lack on it, if you have some sticky tires and hook that thing up your gone, hands down. And if the race is longer who knows, my 305 doesnt get going good till 4th gear and it pulls nicely. Ive seen alot of nicely done civics in my life, and I just dont think it will take the Firebird. Even so, if xxcoltxx added a mild cam, headers, or some other little stuff the civic wouldnt have a chance unless it was turboed, then we all know the sad results of that. but put a supercharger on that 350 and

Re: 89 GTA vrs 95 CIVIC vtec b18c5
I would just slap on a set of headers and a y pipe. Make sure everything is running right and rip him a new one. The power to weight ratio, he beats you but the torque you make, stomps him. You will definitely win with headers and a y pipe.
