160 foot-pounds torque in yours vs minimum 250 (assuming LG4) in the monte = you lose. vs a truck you might have a chance but the monte is pretty close to an f-body for weight.

Most SS's also came factory with 3:73 gears, Same basic weight but with better gears more HP and TQ. you might as well start waving "Bye-bye" before the light turns green.......How ever from a high speed roll you might have a very slim chance due to highway gears in your car, his will top out faster but he maybe too far ahead by the time you get going.

Re: Who would win? Monte Carlo Or Firebird?
all monte SS's came with the L69 motor. only the non-SS got the LG4
so youre looking at 190hp/240tq for the SS vs your 135hp/160tq

Oh and why do you say 2.3L V6 in the post and in your signature? The '87 models came with a 2.8L V6... I don't even think a 2.3L displacement V6 was ever made by GM.

V8 isn't everything. In most cases you are right, but I'm confident my V6 could take down an old,.. worn out,.. V8...?

Re: Who would win? Monte Carlo Or Firebird?
^I'd say it would knock out an old 265 in an original 8,000,000-pound '55 Chevy any day .
Completely off topic, but I wonder why GM never offered the 4.3 in F-bodies? I've had two of them in boats and my buddy in high school had one in his Blazer ... it's just a 350 with two cylinders lopped off, and those puppies were STRONG!

I've actually been wondering that as well. A couple people on this board have talked about it but i never saw it finished =/
And i could knock out more than an old beater truck...

well every 100 pounds is said to reduce your quarter mile time by .1 seconds... are you 2000 pounds ligher than him? hahahahaha

Re: Who would win? Monte Carlo Or Firebird?
sorry but i think you would lose. at least it wouldnt be a shameful loss though, at least you would be losing to another GM muscle car and not a POS honda

Re: Who would win? Monte Carlo Or Firebird?
I would gladly go for that, but at the moment i don't have the cash..
I might be trying to get a Caprice, if I get that I'm doing a motor swap.
Even though i don't know if its a 305,350, carbed or what.. but if that falls through
i will pm'n you lol

Re: Who would win? Monte Carlo Or Firebird?
All the ricers in my area have late 80's and early 90's hondas.. so they are easy to leave behind
And thats why i don't care if i "only" have a v6! lol

i would advise you to not race anything. when i had my 87 v6 camaro i never won a race and also lost to a stock 94 civic 4 door with under 100 HP.

no offense, but that just means either you cant drive, or YOUR v6 was not in good working order.
