160 foot-pounds torque in yours vs minimum 250 (assuming LG4) in the monte = you lose. vs a truck you might have a chance but the monte is pretty close to an f-body for weight.
Most SS's also came factory with 3:73 gears, Same basic weight but with better gears more HP and TQ. you might as well start waving "Bye-bye" before the light turns green.......How ever from a high speed roll you might have a very slim chance due to highway gears in your car, his will top out faster but he maybe too far ahead by the time you get going.

All 85+ SS's got 3.73 gears. Posi was an option though. 83 and 84 SS's got 3.42 gears with no posi option.

so youre looking at 190hp/240tq for the SS vs your 135hp/160tq
well every 100 pounds is said to reduce your quarter mile time by .1 seconds... are you 2000 pounds ligher than him? hahahahaha
Oh and why do you say 2.3L V6 in the post and in your signature? The '87 models came with a 2.8L V6... I don't even think a 2.3L displacement V6 was ever made by GM.

ya... That's what i was wondering.. I hope he just mis-read his..
And the Monte has you. Especially if your running a 4-cyl 2.3...
^I'd say it would knock out an old 265 in an original 8,000,000-pound '55 Chevy any day .
Completely off topic, but I wonder why GM never offered the 4.3 in F-bodies? I've had two of them in boats and my buddy in high school had one in his Blazer ... it's just a 350 with two cylinders lopped off, and those puppies were STRONG!

sorry but i think you would lose. at least it wouldnt be a shameful loss though, at least you would be losing to another GM muscle car and not a POS honda
I would gladly go for that, but at the moment i don't have the cash..
I might be trying to get a Caprice, if I get that I'm doing a motor swap.
Even though i don't know if its a 305,350, carbed or what.. but if that falls through
i will pm'n you lol
