Virtual tuning on a IROC Z... (Forza 3)
To all you gamers out there. Forza Motorsport 3 is going to have a 1990 IROC-Z on the car list. If you have never played Forza, i can tell you that it is an AWESOME simulator with the most real physics and tuning of any game out there. Check out the IROC detail on these actual game photos..
I am excited.

Re: Virtual tuning on a IROC Z... (Forza 3)
forza is more like the Gran Turismo games on the playstation. You can tune everything from tire pressure, to spring rates, to swaybars. There are tons of engin mods too. I bought my first xbox just to play Forza1 and my 360 just for Forza 2...the release date is 10/27/2009

I preordered my collectors edition for the extra cars it gives you and vip member access for dlc cars.
Also looking forward to building up the 1987 GTA T/A to race against the Iroc Z both with ls7 swaps and see what they do in drag race mode.Hopefully we can even swap in the ZR1 motors and go crazy with that.....Icthing for the realease.
I gave up waiting for Gran Turismo 5 for PS3 to come out.Im sure it will be great when it does in a year or 2 later and I can use my logitech g27 on it lol

Re: Virtual tuning on a IROC Z... (Forza 3)
i wasn't impressed with the Gturismo for PSP. It has no career mode or car modding. Thats my favorite part of the game! Im gonna try to make the IROC in Forza3 look like my 91 z28... i wanna build a Night Rider GTA with turbo LS7 if possible... I bet we can make the third-gens own the B class.

I loved Forza 2 so much. The 80s mustang is in this game too... anyone know if there's thirdgen firebirds in it? That would make greattt racing tournaments.

They got Fox body stangs too? That will be awesome. I was checking out some reviews and found out that there is a 5 second rewind feature. i dont know how many times i lost a 15min race on the last lap just because i missed 1 turn. I think there will be 100 real tracks too.

I'm so happy they finally put in some other cars besides the 67 and the newest generation of Camaro. It's gonna be great having a garage full of f-bodys Vetts and the the Buick Grand National.

Have you guys seen the videos on youtube of ppl modding the 02 transam with the zr1 motor and putting twin turbos on that puppy...sweet lord time isnt going fast enough for the game to reach my console lol.the best part is how much you can customize the cars appearance and performance.I will have a nice garage of 3 or 4 of each fbody, vette, stang, and buick.stock, street, race, and show stopper lol

You dont even know how long i've been waiting for a really good racing game with a freaking third gen camaro in it. Gran Turismo had the 88 concept but that wasnt good enough. This is basically a dream come true.
Forza 2 was amazing i cant wait to see how kick *** this will be.

Just to clarify that if you swap in the ZR1 motor and then twin turbo it,it does remove the supercharger so it is realistic. But Id rather twin turbo the ls7 hehe

Re: Virtual tuning on a IROC Z... (Forza 3)
the game is already 2 discs i cant imagine if they added anymore stuff to it. You barely see the interior so its not all bad. At least they have something.
I pleased to see iroc-z's pulling over 1.2gs full decked out.
Its also funny how the largest size back tire you can have is a 295 when plenty of people are running 315s.

Re: Virtual tuning on a IROC Z... (Forza 3)
Here's a tip/trick to enhance the Cockpit view.
By adjusting the FOV Levels in the Multiscreen Setup (worked in FM2 aswell) you can move the cockpit view back to around GT5p view or even more!
As you can see default is crappy as you cant see the side mirror and only a part of the rear view mirror, 62 degrees is pretty much perfect and 90 is way too far (you can see end of arms)
default:
62 degrees:
HOPE THIS HELPS YOU GUYS!!

Now if they had Blu-Ray lol. But I won't get into that. IMO the interiors of the car while they look good they lack detail. Also, why aren't there any Shifting animations?

Re: Virtual tuning on a IROC Z... (Forza 3)
Would you rather them spend hundreds of hours on tuning the physics and cars, or spend hundreds of hours for doing the shifting animation for EVERY single car. And sure the interiors don't have super awesome textures, but it still looks smooth and good.

Re: Virtual tuning on a IROC Z... (Forza 3)
Let's be real here. It doesn't take 100's of hours to do animations for shifting as the shifter is pretty much in the same 2 spots - floor or steering wheel. Same thing goes with the E-Brake.

It takes forever to model, then to lay the textures on, then to give it animation, multiplied by the 400 cars. Plus you have to add in how fast the guy's shifting, or what it's suppose to look like when you rapidly go to 1st and 5th to reverse gear, etc. etc. trust me it takes a long gurl tyme.

Re: Virtual tuning on a IROC Z... (Forza 3)
My sleeping schedule has gone to hell since I've started college. Lately I've given up all my computer gaming and only do a little on my PS3. Most of my time is spent either studying or surfing the web for all kinds of tech. I've been pretty active lately on two other forums because of the motor I plan on putting in my IROC-Z this Winter and the motorcycle I plan on building next Fall. Because of all this, I'll get ~5 hours of sleep on the weekdays and ~9 hours on the weekends. I can't wait for Thanksgiving break. Hopefully I'll get my deer on opening weekend and then I can spend the rest of my time building stuff for my car.

Re: Virtual tuning on a IROC Z... (Forza 3)
Sooo. I setup an iroc with everything that mine has and im proud to say it handles extremely well for the little mods. Over 1 lateral g on street tires.
Mods
-Fully adjustable suspension
~set to eibach prokit spring rates 714/177 (109-177 progressive)
~ ride height is set basically all the way up
-Fully adjustable sway bars
~set to 36mm front and 24.5mm rear
-17in five spoke rims w/ 275/40/17 STREET tires
-medium frame support (strut tower braces subframe connectors)
-medium wight reduction (speakers, A/C, rear seats etc.)
I think thats it for suspension and frame.
So yup i really hope my car in real life will handle this well on a track as it does in a video game. Talk about virtual tuning. Time to tinker : )

Re: Virtual tuning on a IROC Z... (Forza 3)
That should easily be doable. Without the subframe connectors or strut tower brace on my car and old/hard 245/50/16 street tires, I was doing 0.96 lateral g's. My biggest concern with that setup is all the oversteer you will probably get with a 1" rear bar. I'm running a 21mm rear bar at the moment and it is still a little tail happy. I'm hoping to drop the roll center and make an adjustable rear swaybar this winter.
