Formula 385 vs.95 5.0 Cobra on 125 shot

Went up to the local drag race spot last night. The place was dead and I was just about to give up and go home. Had not been up there looking for a race in like 10 years. I was on my cell telling my buddy how bad the place was compared to how it was back in the 90's. I didn't notice the Stang on my side till he reved it up and woke me up! Told my buddy I'd call him back, the driver of the mustang was like 50 and all business. Followed him to a spot that was clear for a race. This was the first race I got with my new 385 setup. We went from about a 15 mph roll to about 115...I beat him by about 3 cars and was still walking away. Talk to him after the race pretty cool guy. I was just glad to get the win on my new combo against at respectable car. He said he's Stang want 11.70s(not sure if he was that fast) in the 1/4 on nitrous. My mods in sig. His car was a 1995 5.0 Mustang Cobra with 302 GT40/cam/head work/X-pipe/315 nitto drag radials/custom tune/5 speed/and he used a 125 wet nitrous shot racing me.

Very cool, I run a 385 also, glad it's running good for you. I ran an 11 SS Camaro on the highway from 70-135 , to my surprise I pulled on him the whole time. Always feels good beating a worthy car....

His 11.7 sounds about right, and your combo sounds pretty healthy to outrun that car as well!

Thanks, I was really happy with the results from running the Mustang. Now my friend wants to race me with his C6 LS2 bolton Vette. He's gone 12.60s at Englishtown in the heat and makes 382 HP to the wheels. Think I should beat him but not sure being I haven't gotten any 1/4 mile times on my car with this engine.

Based on him running a 12.6 I think you should win. With that said, I would have guessed a bolt on C6 should run quicker than a 12.6. Good luck with the run!

That ET honestly doesn't mean much if he is trapping over 115 and his sixty foot is over 2.0. What is his trap speed and sixty foot? Is he running a manual while babying it out of the hole? If he is making 382 at the wheels he should be deep in the elevens, and he might just have you and pull you badly because his rate of acceleration is definitely there....

This is very true, it merely shows the drivers ability in that car at that time. A driver can change a race dramatically.

yeah, spoke to him today. asked about his mph when he was running 12.62s..He said his mph was between 114-117 and his best 60' was 1.9x with an AUTO 6 speed. So it looks like he would have done a lot better with sticky tires. Looks like I'll fine out who's faster by Sunday.

Nice kill dude. Good to hear of a built 3rd gen taking a respectable win since there are so many stock or mild ones in the street racing section. Car looks great too!

I ran the bolt on C6 Vette(382RWHP)this morning. He wouldn't run from a stop, so we went from around 20 mph roll. Stayed door to door with him in 1st gear. We went about a 1/4 mile and he took me by about 1 1/2 cars( I hit the rev limiter a little on 2 shifts). I was in the top of 3rd gear. Think I would have taken him from the hole being I run drag radials and he's on run flats. He said he has to come out easy at the track and his best 60' was a 1.9x? He best trap time was 117 but mostly around 115.

He sounds to be a mid eleven second car, give or take a tenth in ET. Every tenth in the sixty foot is about three tenths in ET, so if his best 60-foot was 1.9x running a 12.60 ET, then that would put his ET at around 11.4 with a solid 1.5x sixty foot, or 11.7 with a 1.6x sixty foot. His trap speed is right on the money to boot. Nice run by the way, the rate of acceleration with those cars can be unreal from a roll, but you hung right with him....

That doesn't surprise me. Those ZZ4 engines untouched are nothing special. Nice kill though!
