Broke a 2000 Camaro SS's @ss!

I was out for a Taco Bell run this morning when I caught the light at 16/Van Dyke. As I'm sitting there this red SS pulls along side. I start bringing up the RPMs on the stall converter, thinking maybe he's not gonna do it, but I figured I'd try it anyways....
The light comes down and I leave at 1/2 throttle until I see the SS get on it....then I put it to the wood. I shift 2nd, pull a 1/2 a car on him then third and another 1/2 a car.. we raced up to about 90 MPH and he never gained on the carlength I had on him. I got to the light at Dodge Park and he was way back there, embarrassed to pull next to a guy that just handed him his @ss in a 3rd gen with the paint peeling off and a single exhaust (hehe).

Man I feel good.... I havn't raced anything newer than a LT1. Honestly I was scared to race a LS1, so I never did.

I feel 10 feet tall

i hate to bust your bubbles but that guy obviously didn't know how to drive. a stock ss is a mid to low 13s car. the guys in my car club here in hot humid oklahoma are running mid to high 13's in this nasty heat but pulling low 13's back in february in the cool air.

You ain't bustin' ****. I know what they're capable of. Theres a lot of guys around here that go to a track and can't get traction and run mid 14's.

Like I said, I never expected to win. I just wanted to see how bad I'd lose.

So anyways, **** happens, and I sure am glad it happened the other day

Well I'm going to have to say 'Congrats'. This IS the street racing board, and in street racing just about anything goes...even winning because a guy cant drive.

It is a totally different race from the track to the street. A 13 second car can lose to a 15 second car on street any time.

Don't forget mid 13's is assuming everything is in perfect working order. If he was having problems with his car he could easily be higher than 14 flat. Who knows mabey two of his spark plug wires came off
