Too bad none of you live near baltimore. Id race you any day. win or lose. I really dont care. But dollar for dollar there is no way you are going to pick up more horsepower than a v8. I know people in the 11's with $3000 total invested into a beater with a 350. Enough said

**** I paid 2200 for my car
maybe spent another 1200 on it in mods
going from n/a to turbo for the most part
best run was a 12.5
injectors and a s-afc I should hit low 11
I am starting to run lean under my current set up so need more fuel
look at your TTA or GN. I saw one at the track bone stock running a 13.2 minor mods on another one and he was almost dipping into the 10's with bigger turbo and injectors
and that is a V6
so guess you can say the same thing about a turbo
nothing beats the power of a turbo right
and the whole $/hp thing I would say had to go to the turbo motor
very little is needed to gain power on them
you put a exhaust on there you dont just free up the flow and make the motor work less but now b/c your exhaust is moving easier you now have quicker spool up and higher boost. and many mods do the same thing
also with a turbo motor you tend ot have power through more of your rpm range (xcept the low end where the turbo is spooling) and a flat trq curve will give you more then a car with big huge numbers but only makes that power for a few hundred rpms
as I always say to each there own but my OPINION is that a turbo motor is the best way to make power $/hp wise rather then going with a bigger motor. so you guys with V8 want to put a turbo on there then go for it I would rather do that then spend money on all these other mods... to me turbos are easy and fun to work on and quick to make power
but one more time to each there own

Got rotary?
running a turbo motor with 12psi.
full dual 3 1/2" pipes comming off the turbo
FMIC,CAI, ram air, e-fan,
soon to have ported intake,TB, and motor
best time 12.5 on G-tech
prev best time 14.8
hoping for 11.x soon :-)
but I broke another driveshaft...
and still running full street trim :-)

YES!! It was a TA if i remember correctly(the car is long gone now) It was a freind of my father's. He put a nice set of heads on it that he ported(machinist). big cam. An old set of used headers(ran them open at the track) an old th350 tranny and a 4.10 rear. A fairly large amount of weght reduction. Im sure i left out plenty of details, but he called it "his best $3000 he ever spent" and it lasted for almost 2 years of drving around and racing at the track. I agree that turbo cars are fast. But this moron that has done nothing but start flames needs to go, before he gives all import drivers a bad name

Dude, is it okay for us not to like the sound of a y-pipe? I personally don't like the f-body's exhaust. I prefer True-dual exhaust with headers. What do most people think of when they get an F-body? True dual exhaust. But it is very difficult to acheive, and it costs quite a substantial amount of money. Mustang 5.0s came from the factory with true-duals, so yeah, it's going to be easier to have an awesome sounding exhaust, cheaply too.
You have an H-pipe on an F-body? How do you get ground clearance with that thing?
I really don't know what kind of car you have/are talking about, cort351w. Your name denotes a popular Ford small block...

I've compared my car with my cousins in exhaust, and hands down WE BOTH agreed that my sounded sweeter.
Mine:
5.0L LX:
Mac 1 5/8 headers
2 1/4" Stock 4-cat H-pipe
2 1/2" Flowmaster 2-chamber cat-back
His:
5.0L T/A:
Heddman Heddars Shorties
Heddman Y-pipe
3" Superconverter
3" Dynomax intermideate
3" Flowmaster 80 series
2x 2 1/2" Tailpipes
For some reason the third gens single exhaust just doesn't sound as good as the Mustangs dual exhaust. But I like the LS1 note (go figure).

Im telling you...just be careful. My friend has a '95 eclipse GSX(the AWD turbo). It is definitely a quick car. I think if he was a better driver that with his manual transmission that he could beat up on a bunch of cars...especially some 3rd gens. I was with him the other night on a highway and we got in his first race. It was from 40 mph up. We raced a '97 eclipse GST(the FWD turbo). Well....we lost. But let me tell you the GST was quick as hell. My friends GSX is totally stock. They may be 4 cylinders...but they are no joke. I figured it would be just as slow as his '91 V4 Probe Turbo GT. Well he goes to this forum like I do with my TA...and he says that the AWD GSX is the top end model and will take all the other eclipses off the line no problem...but he mentioned that the GST's have a higher top end...which explains why we lost on the highway. But the other eclipse was a *****...unlike my friends....which was probably modded. Well...also this kid around my school is going to race my friends GSX with his non-turbo 5 speed 3000GT. So it should be a good race a 5 speed V4 turbo AWD vs. a 6 cyl. 5 speed. I think my friends GSX will win. I wont even bother racing with my car until I get it tuned up. Well good luck...let me know how you do against him. And I am looking at an '88 Formula 350 TPI. Once I get that car I will give him a try in a few races.

I own a third gen camaro and a 95 talon turbo. The talon's and eclipse's are very fast thru 1st and 2nd gear but start to die in third, in fact I havent been beaten off the line in my talon and it is pretty much stock (ported turbo, open air cleaner, runs 14.60's.) I have raced a couple of pretty much stock L98 third gen Z's(my friends cars) and they have to play a big catch up game. They catch me at about 80-85 and make a fly by! The top end ACCELERATION on the talon's are really bad but the top SPEED(140) is really good, so don't let people tell fool you about that. The first gen DSM's are even better than one's like mine(bigger turbo, blow off valve, etc.) If its AWD and the guy can launch you might be in trouble, but if he screws up the launch then you will get him for sure.
