best race ive had in my new car, and i lost!

ok so i go to take a left turn onto the service road that enters onto I-17 north and i pull up to a early 90's GT mustang. and when the light turned green, i didnt even think about it. then i hear a nice set of pipes as we take off, so he hits it and so do i. i took off pretty quick andd got on the on ramp doing about 90, and i go to shift into 6th after not seein his lights, and he pulls out like a bat outta hell. so we keep goin and we both are nose to nose climbin speed. i looked down and i realized i was goin 125 and let off then just because even though no one was on it at 1:30 am, i dont want to risk someone else's life. so after he passed me by about a couple hundred feet, he tapped his breaks and i flashed my high beams. i pull up next to him(doing 80 mph) and he gives me a nod and a smile. you know the one, the kind one which is respectful and friendly, not the screw you and your car type. yes i lost. yes he won. i dont care. i had fun and he was cool about it. no million mile flyby. just good racin with american muscle.

Really?? I would think an LT1 would've beat that car. He must have been more modded than u are.

Racing a musclecar is always much better than racing an import.

i dont think anything was relaly done. look at Nic's car. his 92 vert runs a 14.2. mine runs anything form a high 13's to low 14's. and i heard the 5.0 has a great top end. im still havin an extremely tuff time not rippin the tires. anybody know of good tires for the street? z rated and i need to stay cheap.

If you're looking for traction, the only street tire worth a damn is a Nitto drag radial.

Yeah tires, good tires for good prices would be the Futura Ultra Z's definetly from what I've heard and seen.

Well I guess you can't win 'em all. I would think he had to modded somehow. Good race.

sounds like a good race. but why would you throw it in 6th only going 90? by my math your shifting at 3000 rpm? damn when i'm racing in my vette i can pull in 4th (OD-off) all the way to 100-110 MPH with 7-800 rpms to spare, with an l98 that doesn't breath up top as well as your lt1. if you did that thats why you lost.

I think he was saying that he didn't think the Mustang was anywhere around him so he was dropping into OD to go about his business.

My bad...sorry about that. Good job keeping it a race when you were stuck in 6th gear not expecting it. That's a pretty cheap "win" on the mustang's part if you choose to call it a "win".
