No...go back and read my post again. An Intrepid is not a race. And trying to race one certainly is not something worth wasting bandwidth on the site.
This section of the forum has become a complete joke these days . lol

Re: 88 camaro vs 06 intrepid
Solution is simple to me. Get a ls motor if u wanna run wirh ls cars AND get decent mpg.
A proper tuned ls1 car with cam and bolt ons will get 25mpg. My full weight camaro ss gets round 25-26mpg and clicks 11.75 on dr.
4.8 dd rcsb full weight gets 24mpg and will outrun any tbi 350.
Not trying to be a jerk. But if you want keep up with ls cars AND get mpg. Most logical choice is ls power.

Seems like my only option.
I gotta bite the bullet

Re: 88 camaro vs 06 intrepid
why do you think it takes a lottery winner to do an ls swap? some looking around on here and ls1tech will net you most of the parts, and getting acclimated with a wrench or two and you'll have it swapped no problem. the support on this site alone will get you there.

Would a lt1 cam, and a eBay turbo make me a little happier?

Re: 88 camaro vs 06 intrepid
making an ebay turbo work and live will cost more than a budget 5.3 swap.
i did my little bro's car for under $2k, including the cost of engine, trans, harness, and swap components.
if you don't want my help, just say so, i'll bow out gracefully....your sarcasm is pretty abrasive.

Re: 88 camaro vs 06 intrepid
$2K? I've seen complete turnkey 5.3's in the Atlanta area for about 700 and the trans for about 400...what else is needed other than flashing the comp or getting the ecm for it?

i have all the pics that were in that thread uploaded to my photobucket. just as if there is something you want to see, i'll dig it up
we picked up the 5.3 long block for 250. found the trans for 100...got some crackhead deals for sure, but everything we found is deals i see all the time, just gotta look for it. need fbody oil pan/pickup/windage tray and accessories. lots of info available in the swap forum

Re: 88 camaro vs 06 intrepid
On a budget I would not think about anything other than a 5.3.
6.0 is $1,000 on average.
LS1 is around $1,500 (which after averaging price for accessories for the swap that doesn't seem too far off a 6.0).
5.3 is $500.
I have a hard time finding listings for LS1's without the trans attached and that set up is usually $3,000+ easily.

Re: 88 camaro vs 06 intrepid
Hell I know everyone hates em but if you REALLY wanna be cheap an LT1 + computer can be had for less than $1k and will bolt right in. An LT4 hotcam swap form there and you've got nearly 400hp, just be sure the trans can handle it and make sure you've got at least 3.xx gears for an LT4 hotcam. If you play your cards right I could see you being able to do that for $1500 and thats enough to beat stock LS1 cars. Thats also the practical power ceiling for an LT1, though. From there power costs just as much as it does with a gen I, and the Gen III+ still have tons of growing room.

Doesn't the average tbi 305 car run high 15 to mid 16 in the quarter?

Re: 88 camaro vs 06 intrepid
i have one as my daily driver with the 3.5 , while they make decent power they are very heavy cars.
even with the rear mounted gt35 turbo on mine the car is still a dog though i can only push a few pounds of boost before the transmission will literaly eat itself alive .
great car to take on a long trip though
the intrepid/concord platform does lend itself to be converted to rwd with a 318 or 340/360 engine failry easy though.
but if u wanted to do that to a car mopar used to and prolly still sells a full bolt in kit for the lebaron/daytona/shadow to drop in a mopar sb

Re: 88 camaro vs 06 intrepid
I never said they were fast either. You guys make it out to be a new Charger in terms of weight. Its about on par with everything else of the time.
Granted there are other factors.
My Saab is rated at 250 at the flywheel and people have cracked off mid-high 14s stock.
Forgot to say it weighs the same.

Yes children, You all must do an LSX swap if you want to be able to take a 4 Door family sedan on the street.

- flowmaster catback... 13.8 at 100mph on a 2.0 60ft
- cut air lid w K&N... 13.6 at 101mph on a 1.9 60ft
- free mods and a AFPR... 13.4 at 102mph on a 1.9 60ft
- drag radials and a catless front y-pipe... 13.2 at 104mph on a 1.8 60ft
The L98 C4s respond really well to boltons. Do a search for members "Vic89" and "TA" over on www.corvetteforum.com. Both dipped into the mid 12s on boltons alone with L98 C4s. They are really fun cars... wish I still had mine to compliment my '99 FRC.

Thats exactly what my old, 100% bone stock 89' auto with the 3.07 gear ran (on a 2.0 60ft, though). I did minor boltons and got some good results:
