Detroit Auto Show
Looks like I'll be heading to the Detroit show tomorrow. Bright and early, I have to leave at about 6:30am! Sucks, seeing as I'm a lazy student, and not even in bed by then, usually.
If anybody else has nothing to do tomorrow (I know, short notice), shoot me an email, and we'll talk convoy.
Jon

...401 to windsor.....and then when you are just before windsor and it gives you the choice of "bridge" or "tunnel" to the USA....take the Tunnel. I am not sure if its the most direct way etc, but I recall taking the bus over there one year and there were signs to Cobo hall.....I would double check this with mapquest just to be on the safe side.

Definately take the tunnel. When you gt off the 401 you will end up on Dougall Ave which will turn into Oullette Ave.
Follow that downtown and follow the signs to the tunnel (I think its right on Wyandotte and then left on Goyeau). The tunnel entrance should be right there.
On the Detroit side when you come out of the tunnel entrance you have to go right on Jefferson. I think if you take an immediate right when you get on Jefferson you will go to Atwater (yup it runs right along the river). Follow that west and you will see Cobo Hall and Joe Louis Arena (both have parking garages you should be able to get in).
Hope I don't get you lost.

Thanks for the advice, Bob. Your directions are pretty close to the ones I got from mapquest, but involve less steps. Thanks for the heads up!

Just got back from the show, had a great time.
Although, I think that Detriot wins the "Biggest Jerk in a Crowd" award. I can't count the number of people that elbowed, stepped on, or stood in front of me while I was taking a picture. It's enough to start a little "auto show-rage."
Speaking of pictures, I'll get them developed soon, and scan a few for your viewing pleasure. There wasn't too much stuff that was ground-breaking there. Those of you that keep updated on concept cars will have seen everything I took pictures of.
There was no GTO there!! What's up with that?

I can't believe I missed it!
Was it on a rotating table? I definitely would not have missed it if it was (I hope). I wonder if they removed it.
easySPEED, you should drink more often. I laughed my rear off about the "I bottle" thing. Don't know why.

if that car goes into production with the Ls1, its a sad day in camaro/firebird day. i think it looks like a glorified Alero or Grand am with a V8.The coolest car i thought was the Subaru WRX. 230hp 190trq four banger, all wheel drive, five speed and that color blue is truelly amazing. ohhh and its a turbo hehehhehe, i know its not a american car, but hey, it sounds fun as hell to drive.

I liked the new 350-Z cars from Nissan. Not bad looking cars with a RWD 6, just like the last era of lady Z's.
I don't like the $30,000 US sticker price, tho. Maybe not enough car for that much money.
The WRX 'baru at the show was pretty nice too. My mother bought an Impreza last year (sport package, no WRX ), and that thing handles like an f-ing dream. You really have to push that baby to get it to drift.
One of the yuppies on my college ski team last year, brought out his beat-up 944 to a weekend with the team in Vermont. Well, mommy's car embarrassed the crap out of his on the windy roads.
