Ontario Inspection Safety Rear Bumstops?
I am wondering about Ontario inspection safety.
I would like to have the rear bump stops removed off my 1988 Camaro. The car has not had safety check yet. So would that affect the safety? Would it be okay to remove it? Or must have it on by law?
Any one know?

If you are not sure (and neither am I), why don't you just get it certified and then take them off?

Why are you wanting to take them off? Axle hitting them?
I took mine off then cut out the sheet metal. I CAN'T bolt mine back on anymore, but they don't matter for inspection down here.
If you need/want them, you could always cut the rubber portion in half, so they are still there, just shorter.

Re: Ontario Inspection Safety Rear Bumstops?
The reason, is because I want to run wider tires 315's in the rear and don't want it to stick out the fender or be in line with the fenders.
I could get it certified, and then take it off, but I don't want to waste time since I am already in the middle of doing so much work on my car.
I have thought about cutting the rubber bump stops in half, but would it still leave the car wheel enough room to stick inside the fenders?
Also, still can't find any information about Ontario law for safety check. Any one know?
Thanks

Probably can't touch it, but the question is....Will they notice it missing? I've seen some that slip over the shock tubes & may qualify. But judging what the nit-picking crap I was reading in the SSC....They wouldn't.
The SSC calls for.......
"i) any component, or attachment of the suspension system, or its supports, is excessively worn, corroded, broken, bent,
cracked, loose, disconnected or missing"

Re: Ontario Inspection Safety Rear Bumstops?
Since I may remove the rear original bumpstops.
I was wondering if anyone has run "Bump Rubber" on their Shock Absorbers? If yes, where can I find one for my QA1 shock absorbers?
Here is a good example of the Bump Rubber (Shock) website.

Thanks.

Yeah, I would love to cut it off, but just want to be safe in case.
Still does anyone know or have Bump Rubber on their Shock Absorbers?
Thanks.
