rear spoiler

Hey guys, has anyone bought a new fiberglass rear wrap around spioler for a GTA from Year one or hawks etc...If so any information about it would be great...Mine has a big chunck out of it and needs to be replaced. I looked into fixing it but it seems that would be a waste of money as it will just crack again. The rubber inside has expaned. Also does any one have any idea of a filler I could use to fill the chunck as a temporary fix? Maybe something I could sand and paint that will not expand when freezing while the car is in storgage...Thanks for any info...

Re: rear spoiler

I looked into to those. I ended up getting one from a certain "3rd gen" place in Toronto. If I was going to do it again I would pay the extra money and get it from Year One or Hawk. Have it shipped to a hotel in Buffalo and stay the night. You still save and get a night out with it too. The one I got didn't line up properly and cost me twice the amount to have it sanded, primed and painted to fit. Hope that helps.

You might try some polyurethane insulating foam that comes in an aerosol can if the outer skin of your spoiler is still more or less intact. Just make sure the excess expanding foam has a way to get out of the spoiler.

Re: rear spoiler

Good idea.
I also had a hood built for me by them called a Ram Air 4.
Absolute headache!
If you saw how this guy treated his employees you could write a sit-com about them. But it wouldn't be very funny.

I bought mine from there a good six years ago, give or take. The fit wasn't perfect but it wasn't terrible. The car was in for paint anyway so I let the body shop deal with it. Six years later and it still looks fantastic, you'd never know it wasn't stock. Well, until you tap it with your knuckle. Price wasn't terrible either, at the time it was $400 cash. Well worth it in my opinion.

I wouldn't even bother trying to repair the original. The steel core starts to rot and expand, splitting the rubber like an overcooked hotdog. Just replace it, fight with it once and have done with it.
