What could be wrong?
I rebuilt the motor that now has about 1500 miles on it. At idle it surges up and down for some reason, I have looked for vacuum leaks and found none. I Replaced everything in the motor and used Trick Flows 23 degree heads. It runs better than the stock motor, but i was expecting more out of it. I am thinking that i need a new prom but not sure, Who do you all recommend. And then i have oil coming out of the dipstick tube. I removed the smog pump pieces to replace the passenger side valve cover gasket, and drove it before replacing the smog pump and it hasnt done it since. WTF, I am just out of ideas. This is driving me nuts because i know it has more to give.
Thanks, Gary

Well since you you replaced the heads I assume that you replaced the cam also? If you have done this then I am gonna have to say that you need a new PROM. My car does this also at idle, I put in new pistions, cam, headers, TC blah blah blah... It will run like crap at idle and it will run "ok" at higher RPM's but I have 10.x:1 compresion and a completely stock fuel system. I am running lean and I am betting you are too. Also, the cam you probably installed... you had to adjust the TPS right? That right there is enough to send the ECM out of whack.
More info on what you did will help out much more with a diagnosis.

Yes you are correct new cam and i did have to crank the screw out a little on the TB. The comp should be like 10.3 to 1
The cam was 480/480 so I didnt go crazy there, and bored .030 over. And I am also running the stock fuel system except for the AFPR which i have set to 52 i think. Ya I am pretty sure it needs the prom and 24 lb injectors. Have any good places that do the custom prom. Sorry for not giving better details.
Hopefully this clears it up somewhat.
Thanks for the reply, Gary

fasterproms.com ... they burn you 3 chips and get you to take readings... They will burn a better chip for you than Ed will (unless Ed is doing this now too..). Also make sure you get the new injectors first, although I probably don't have to say that...
