TPI confusion???
Here is a simple one for all of you in the know...
I have an 89 L98 350 in my bird currently. I'm interested in these 86 L98 aluminum vette heads that this one guys is selling. Will these bolt on, with no problems? I'm not the mechanic I like to think I am and haven't a clue... I do know there is a difference between the 85-88 to 89-92 350's in some regards.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

86 heads are more than likely perimeter bolt valve covers as opposed to your centerbolt. Also, the 4 center intake bolt holes will be at a different angle, requiring you to drill out your intake for the different angle.
How do the specs of those heads compare to your existing ones? I would not go through the trouble of changing your heads and the associated problems above without there being a significant performance gain. Look up the casting numbers on the other heads and compare the volume (cc) of the chambers in each head.

D8R... I appreciate the responce.
But once again I'm a little clueless. Bare with me on this one, but what should I be looking for? I thought vette heads are a bolt on from certain years? Should I try to locate a set of 89 vette heads for my 89 block? I'm a complete retard when it comes to heads and could use the help.

ALL Corvette aluminum L98 heads are centerbolt.
The Corvette L98 got AL heads in mid-86. They are centerbolt and are good for about 300hp without being touched (no porting, polishing, nothing....)
The intake bolt holes for 85-87 are slightly different from 88-91. The inner 2 bolt holes are drilled differently. I think thats it, don't quote me.
The 1988-1991 Corvette AL heads are "D-Port" 113 castings and are good for about 350hp untouched. I'm running those heads on my '87 corvette right now with a bunch of work done to them.
