Layout a 12 second, 350 TPI w/ Turbo 350 trans and 3.42 rear
I am thinking of building a 355 TPI. I want to know what setup of cam, TC, injectors, porting plenum, siamesing, throttle body, AFPR, rockers, headers, exhaust, where to go in N. Ill. for custom chip, etc. I am not too concerned with HP/TQ numbers; just a quick ride that is reasonable on gas (16+ MPG).
I am looking at a 4 bolt 355 with Keith Black pistons (probally flat top), Eagle 6" H-beam rods, and a steel crank. I am trying to stay on a fairly tight budget so I am looking towards the modified vortecs again.
I am going to spohn for all the suspension and chassis parts. The turbo 350 has recently been rebuilt and has a shift kit. I have an open 3.42 10 bolt that will be getting the "Beefing Up." I may consider a 9 bolt if I find one at a good price. But for now, I will work with what I have.

If you r stuck on the stock TPI setup, I'd go with the following:
-LPE 211/219 cam
-The best heads your budget allows (AFR 190's would be my 1st choice)-If Vortecs, you must get the correct intake manifold (I think from Scoggin-Dickey)
-A good TC, like Vigilante or Yank, stall depends on you cam, but prob around a 2400
-24 lbs injectors or prob even the stock 22 lbs should be fine
-Like I said earlier, if set on stock TPI, port as much as possible
-48mm TB should be ok, 52mm may give you a few more HP
-Any AFPR
-Any good roller rocker set
-Do a search on headers, each set seems to have theor own pro's and con's. 1 5/8" or 1 3/4" will be fine. Shorties or long tube is up to you.
-Cat-back exhaust is more a matter of opnion on the sound you like, any cat-back gives roughly the same performance
-As for someone to do a chip, no idea
If you are not stuck on the stock TPI, I suggest my combo listed in my sig. wholeheartedly. It is a GREAT daily driver setup and I hope to run 11.9's N/A with it this yr. It's great with a 3.42 rear too. A MR/LT1 or HSR setup with a matched cam would prob better better off with 3.73 gears, but those setups make good power too.
PS-I love my Spohn susp. parts, nice choice.

Now that there is a dyno in my town, I will probably get some time on it and tune it.

good luck.
what do you think of getting someone (a company) to burn you a custom chip over the Internet, rather then getting it done yourself (or doing it local)?

I wont say I am stuck on the idea of the stock TPI system, but for sense of exspense, I am looking that way. How much does the SuperRam go for? Also is that the reason you bought that hood? The SuperRam looks too tall to clear anything near a stock hood.
I have not experimented with the TPI before, but I have heard many times that the runner lenght is what kills them so much. Or is there more to the TPI restriction than the runner length and the need for porting? Is the Plenum too large? What other aspects need to be looked at?
Is there any reason no one has said anything about doing this? Or am I the first to consider it? I am more that capable of making my own runners.

Car: 89 Iroc
Engine: 383
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.45
The superram base retails for $459
The plenum and runners retail for $799
I have seen used manifolds selling for $270-$375
and used plenum runners kits for $600-$700
I have not heard of any clearance issues with the superram as far as the hood is concerned and there are quite a few people on here that have them. Mine should be at my house sometime next week so I'll find out for sure myself!

Nope, no clearance issues with the hood. I was getting the car painted and decided to go with that hood.
