TPI Swap

I've done done a search and have gotten tons of info, but I need a straight answer. Here's my situation; I have a 92 RS with the 305 TBI engine and 700R4 tranny. I want to drop in a 68 327 that I have built up and I want to fuel inject it ( just to be different). I've looked at all the options and they all cost money. I have settled on the Miniram from TPIS, but the whole package costs $3750.00 US. Now can I get and use a Speed Density ECM (730), complete wiring harness, all sensors, injectors, fuel pump and distributor( or can I use my TBI dist.) off a TPI car and just purchase the Miniram intake and fuel rail kit? I'd also need to get a chip done too. Anybody who has done a Miniram swap have any info?

Thanks
Dustin

You Sure Can.

You need to change your intank fuel pump to a high pressure pump., and make sure you have the appropriate fuel lines for the MR.

otherwise, You can use a Speed Density TPI computer, Harness, ect all with the MiniRam.

You can use your existing Distributor, along with many of your existing sensors.

There will be a number of wiring issues you will need to resolve, but nothing magor. The Swap is fairly straitforward.

i did the swap from tbi to tpi on my car. you will have to do the fuel pump as listed above, and you will also need to convert to dual fans, and you will need to change your vapor canister hose to one for a tpi car. your wiring issues will consist of-thank ***- only changing two wires. you will need to get the shop manual for your car from helm and look at the pinouts, but you only need to change the wires for the speedometer and the cruise control. also, i dont want to be the bearer of bad news, but if you call the good people of tpis, they will tell you that the miniram is too much intake for anything less than 350 cubes. i have done much research and plan on getting one myself. if you want to drive the car on the street, the miniram is really going to hurt your bottom end and it wont be much fun to drive if youre not revving the hell out of your motor all the time

Thanks for all of the info, this is great. Well, from what I've gathered the 327 isn't much of a torquer off the line, so I'm not expecting a big pull off the line, but I live out of town and drive in to work, the drive is about 45 mins on the highway, so I figure that I should have ample chance to really open it up and that's what I'm going for. Any more info will be great.

Thanks much,
Dustin

MiniRam should work fine on a Moderately built 327 w/ appropriate gear and Converter.

No need to Change the fan either, and any person who is contemplating a TPI swap should be able to sort out the "custom" vaccum line routing needed on their own w/o help from the board - lol.

I guess it's a moderate little mouse.

1968 327 2 bolt block
bored .030 over ( that puts it at 331 c.i.d )
ground .010 on the mains
TRW hypereutectic pistons
hi- perf seals, moly rings, bearings, rods, rod bolts, frost plugs, ect.
ARP bolts through out
double roller timing set with thrust button
hi-perf oil pump and drive
baffled oil pan
291 casting heads ( may need to get new heads due to no accessory holes in front)
1.94/1.6 valves
1.52 roller rockers
pushrods, guideplates, screw in studs, guides, ect.
polished and ported
camshaft 220/231@.050, 468/480 lift, 110 lsa ( will be replacing with ) Comp Cam 12-240-4 CS XM 270H
226/236@.050, 480/489 lift, 112 lsa ( recommended by Comp)

It's much like the one Chevy High Performance built in the Dec 2002 issue. I am also putting 3.73 gears in the rear, and a 2600-3000 stall. Gonna get a built tranny and rear end too.
