1/4 Mile times?

Just a question as a reference point...what does everyone here typically run in the 1/4 mile? I'm mainly looking for the 305 TPI's, but other responses are welcome as well. I'm just looking for something to gauge myself against that's all. Thanks guys!

You may get more responses on one of the racing boards but you can take a look in my sig to see my times.

16.3? My V6 fell just short of that...eep... Serious traction issues, or serious engine problems?

My bone stock truck including the oil and paper plates ran a 15.1 @93. The roc wich seems to be a freak of nature just yanked off a 13.49 @ 101.4. My iroc usaly runs high 13's but every once in a while it will surprize me with a great slip.

If your car's pulling high 13's with a trap speed of 97, I'm beginning to think I could pull low 14's if I can get it to hook..after all my trap is only 2 mph off.

i dunno what i've done to my car. Before i did my tune up and flushed out the tranny and also cleaned out my injectors, it used to run pretty strong. After i did all that, it feels so slow, even my friends notices it. Maybe it had something to do with my timing because it was at 0 deg timing when i ran at the tracks. I resently advanced my timing to regular stock 6 deg and it seems to be quicker than before but not as quick as awhile ago. i dunno whats up with my car.

p.s. my best tiem at the track was 16.3 at 81mph. Those times were with my car that had a broken tranny mount, fuel pump problem, bald 245's, and 0 deg timing.

My best time was 14.1 @97mph. Saving up for 3.73 gears, should be in the 13's after this.

Damn dude..16.3 at 81. My V6 91 RS, G-Tech which is on the inaccurate side, but still...it pulled 16.48 at 85. Higher trap but traction issues. Wowsa. But 0 degrees timing is bad stuff! Stock is ok. Bet upping it to 8 would help you a little. Maybe even 10..but higher octane for that much. Still though, with your list..something sounds really really wrong.

3.73 gears will make a TPI car slower. This has been proven at the track time and time again. Last weekend, I ran a full second faster than a TPI 350 with 3.73's. I have 3.23's.

Understand that at 4500 rpms, the motor is done. DONE. The stock tranny shifts at about 5k where you have about 175 hp. If you get 3.73's, the car will be above its horsepower peak too much of the time.

If you do the math and understand power curves, it shows that 3.07 to 3.23 will make a stock TPI get the best ET.

BTW my car ran 15.0 stock. The way I started learning about this was when a guy with a stock motored '89 305 Camaro with a 5 speed ran door to door with my '99 LS1 Corvette. I was so blown away that I found out what he did and copied it.

very very true, i put 3.73 in my car from my 2.73 and only turn
a tenth faster at the track but i was trapping alot slower. so i'm gonna get a set of 3.23 real soon fter i do my exhaust

Phat if you are not getting the right amout of fuel pressure you can expect to ses times like yours. I had the same problem... seemed as if my car was dead.

1badiroc my car isn't throwing any ses codes. Also that when i was running at the track it was with a brand new fuel pump. only couple days old. On my way to sears point raceway i started to hear my fuel pump whining like it was sucking in air. I thought it was nothing at first. I finished racing and headed to my friends house in sac town. The next day it started to whine alot worse so i left it there one more day. then i came home and to this day it still whines but not as bad so i dunno wahts going on with my fuel pump. This is my third fuel pump. My original fuel pump was making a whining noise, so i replaced it with a oem one, then that replacement crapped out on me 2 days later, so i have to get another oem (under warrenty) and now this fuel pump is making a whining noise, but not as bad and the other 2, so i dunno whats going on with my fuel system.

My best time was a 14.1 @ 99mph with a 2.3 60' time with the car running in Limp Home mode. It ran super rich, got about 6mpg.
Mods I had on the car at the time were:
86 305 LG4 block
87 stock TPI heads
87 stock TPI plenum and runners
87 52mm TB (was 48 and had it bored out to 52 by my friends dad)
Crane Cams Powermax 2050 Camshaft
MSD 6A
MSD Blaster 3 Coil
Dynomax headers
Pacesetter 3" Exhuast
3" hi-flow cat
Converted to Speed Density
LT1 rear with 3.42 gears
275/40/17 Kumho tires (not the best tire in the world)
SLP Dual Cold Air Intake
stock 5 speed
no A/C or smog
Car weighed 3500 with me in it and less than 1/4 tank of gas ( I am 150)

Here is a video of my car and you can see all the unburnt fuel coming out of the tailpipes,
http://www.transamws6.com/video/ZepherWS6.mpg

DUDE, what is up with the upper radiator hose? Never saw one like that! Guess that dual snorkle restricted the path of the original placement.. and awesome times! im doing almost all you have, other then rear gears and some other stuff... man.. 14.1?.. and i weighed my car, and it came in at 3400lbs, and im 230lbs and had a 1/2-3/4 tank... but etowns station is a little off

That upper hose and thermostat outlet came with the SLP intake.
I think it was for clearance around the accessories on the 90-92 cars. I could have ran the stock hose and outlet, but since I got those parts, I decided to use them.

I've heard that 90-92 Formula 305tpi 5 speeds ran low 14's pretty easy. I think I had a little bit more power than a Formula. .

If I didn't mess up my launch, I might have been able to hit a high 13. My next run would have probably been a high 13, but the car in front of me broke at the line a couple of minutes before closing time, so they called it a night. I was really upset.

Yeah dude, your time is hot but your 60' sucks...I'm only netting 14.5 at 95 mph, but my 60', with street tires, **** (stiff) suspension, and a 4.10 rear, is 2.188.

My average 60' time on street tires is 2.1. I just gave it too much gas and not enough clutch on that launch.

Engine: A slow one & a fast one
Transmission: A bad one & a good one
Axle/Gears: A weak one & a chained one
You know what's funny...I pulled my 2.188 60' as I mentioned before with street tires and a 4.10 rear.....and yet, I didnt have much technique to my launch! The traction on the strip was good enough that, basically, I brought the rpms to 1300-1400, and when I saw green, I gave it an assload of pedal and it hooked! I couldn't believe it! About .5 seconds of spin and it hooked..under full throttle! They really did an outstanding job prepping the track that day. Except after the crash....they didnt clean it up at the end of the strip enough. My rear got squirrely near the end, at around 70 mph or so... Someone 15 mins before me broke traction and did a 360 past the finish line and tapped the guard rail.
