TPI or 4 BBL? 87 IROC Z 350
Hey guys,
i have an 87 Iroc Z with a 20,000 mile old 350. My Current setup is an Edelbrock Intake Manifold, Holley Street Avenger Carb, and Edelbrock Airfilter. I just recently bought a parts car that has a working 350 with TPI. Im not gonna switch out the engines but what do you think? Should i put the TPI on, or Should i keep the Carb? I dont really know whats gonna give me more power and such, since I'm fairly new with the TPI. Expierience and MUCH feedback would be appreciated?
Or is there a better Carb Alternate?
let me knoW PLEASE

fuel injection is gonna give ya better throttle response and better fuel economy, and more hp(generally). If ya end up goin fuel injected i got a holley stealth ram for sale asking $500.

Car: Formula, a big red brick.
Engine: A Ford 351 Windsor... ?
Transmission: Dodge 727
There's no reason to not go with TPI if you have a parts car.
Then again, be prepared for less HP, but a LOT... LOT more torque.

In my opinion, I think you shouldn't listen to people's opinions (ironic isn't it?), and general statements about one thing being better than another, or one method being the only way to go. relying on broad, opinionated statements don't usually help too much. Look at it from a pros and cons point of view.
What is the car going to be used for? What are you trying to gain from the swap?
If this is a daily driver, with a mild or relatively tame engine, then TPI is a good choice due to its street-friendly power band, and mpg. It has plenty of bottom and mid range torque, and excellent throttle response.
If you want this to be a 1/4 mile car, then your options change. In this case, theres nothing wrong with a carb or aftermarket intake like the stealthram (not a long tube runner setup). There is no sense in converting over to TPI for a drag specific car just so you can choke the engine off right where any decent cam will really start to scream.
