350 T.P.I is in trouble
Well I raced my buddies Mustang last night. I roasted him off the line but he caught me. We went longer than a 1/4 so I might have beaten him in the 1/4. But I payed the ultimate price for the fun I had. I ****in tore my **** up! I think I redlined it a little to much, I noticed she was taching pretty high so I backed off and brought her to a stop. No smoke, no leaks, definately no explosion, but she only stays running when I rev the engine and makes some kind of rattle. I'm having it towed to the shop later today.

Mine revved way too high in D when I was racing a corvette, although it didn't hurt my car any, maybe because of my forged internals?

Car: '89 Trans AM/'88 GTA
Engine: (2) Tuned Port L98's
you could very well of spun a bearing or two...
happened to me.
except for one lil difference, my engine shut off completely
and I pulled off to the road. ..popped the hood, no coolant bubbling ..everything looked norm
tryed starting it again and it didnt make a sound..
woundnt crank (hot starter solenoid probally)
so I left it at a Checker Auto store overnight
and came back the next morn.
the car did the exact same thing you described
above .. wouldnt idle, I manged to drive it home while
listening to that awful metal on metal sound.
it didnt sound like a knock .. but a tap on a metal surface.
I wouldnt get discouraged tho .. it could be numerous things
but, it wouldnt surprise me if you spun a main or
rod bearing .. happens most often while "lead-footing"
good luck

Thats what my dad and I believe. Sounds like a defitante possiblity. Mine isnt knocking either, it has the metal on metal rattle like yours did. I'm not to worried about it.
