Car Wont Run Out Of Ideas
hey all i have had this problem for about a year now and i am just about ready to blow the car up so any help would be appreciated. MY car used to stall out while driving sporadicly at high speeds. The car would begin to stumble and the check engine light would come on and the car would completely stall out. then the problem began happening more often a couple of times duringa drive. I have gotten numerous codes from all this including 14 , 21, 22, 43, 46, and 53 and i didnt even think that was a code nor can i find it anywhere online. So i changed my TPS car still was messed up, and wouldnt even run for 2 minutes before it was stalling out. so i just changed my CTS and the car still wont run. i pulled my ECM out and the connections all seem to be good and the motherboard apears not burned out or anything. i am clueless as to what to do with this car now my mechanic buddy hooked it up right after i changed TPS and it ran fine everything reading proper numbers on his scanner , i drove it around for 2 hours and the car ran beautiful. tried to take it out the following weekend and it stalled out after driving it for 5 minutes, then took it home and it wouldnt even crank the next day, then got it to crank and thats when i decided to change the CTS. after clearingcodes this time i am only getting a code 46 but the car starts so i dont know how the vats system could be involved after the car is running. i believe the other codees are getting messed up by maybe just one problem, it appears the car is failing its functional test and thats why it spits out al htose other codes after a while. well thats it the car sits in my driveway and i am out of luck so see if you guys can fix this one.

Engine: a loud one
Transmission: bolted to the engine
Code 53 is a system overvoltage code. It's telling you there is a basic generator problem. I think the code will set in if the voltage at the ECM ignition input is over 17 volts for a few seconds. Which is probably why you're getting sporatic codes. You need to check the charging system.

Most part stores will check the battery, and charging system for free.
If your battery cables are quite old I'd change them after fixing the over-voltage problem.

90 Camaro's and Firebirds have wiring issues behind the motor. First deal with the over charge. Also a code 46 alotta times is a broken wire in the column next to the key switch buzzer spring also.
Pull up hard on the harness, really hard while it's running behind the ignition coil while doing short stabs with the throttle. Does it change to runs good, runs bad ? If so Remove the starter, coil, grounds on the back of the heads and the distributor and open that harness up. you'll find it.
