dont know if this helps but, my exhaust was rattling against the car a little and it was setting a code 43, false knock i guess. so i bypassed it with a 4kohms resistor until i got my exhaust fixed, havent seen code 43 since. by the way did you check the knock sensor's resistance?
i have a spare KS,that i know is for the 86-89 cars,it was dropped at one point, and i know how fragile these are...but i ohm'd it out,and it is 100k ohms,is it worth tossing in the car to see if it helps or fixes the problem?
also, what about the +12 volts at the KS wire? my other question was, when taking the volt reading on the KS wire, does it matter if it is plugged into the KS or not?
no because you're reading the voltage TOO the KS. which will always be 12v. its the voltage coming FROM the knock sensor that you need to worry about. but just toss that extra and you'll be fine. if its reading 100k ohms then your good to go.
