Camshaft and ECM

the car is a 1988 GTA 350 tpi
at the moment i have my intake and most the front clip out of the car and while i was at this point i decided to do a few upgrades, i was going to purchase new heads but have decided i shouldnt spend that much when i have so many other projects going on. so ive decided to stick with just cam and headers, ive seen a few cams for a pretty good deal on summitracing.com that work with the existing settings on the ecm but i dont want to do all this work for a small power gain, but i also dont have the equipment or knowhow to burn proms, what would my best choice be on the cam? or where could i go to get a prom burned and the car tuned?

fitbmxseries1,

Are you changing the springs on your head as well? What all in all are you doing to your motor? Some info would help.

Re: Camshaft and ECM

from what ive read on here dont quote me for a power increase you can get a cheap zz4 cam which are always a bunch of pullouts on ebay under 100. but in order to run this cam you need springs that can handle the lift, screw in studs are recommended cause some have pulled push in studs with this cam, and last thing is might need offset retainers or keepers so this thing doesnt kill the valve seals. its all up to what you want to do.

Re: Camshaft and ECM

i am pulling the heads off and i am replacing the springs, also valve seals need to be redone at the time. My intake gasket was bad, and it seems like my intake is warped.... dont know what is up with that though. i have a replacment sitting in my garage that i got at a swap meet. Didnt think of the screw in studs or retainers at all, im willing to put the money into it to make it right but i dont want it to be a waist if its not going to give me a pretty good increase. id also like to see what other people have done and what kind of combinations they have
