Half My Injectors Work, WHAT IN THE WORLD!?

Well iv been trying to figure out whats going on, i tried trouble shooting with a multimeter here is what i know.

All injectors are open when all of them are plugged in

When the passenger side bank is unlpugged, the engine gets no gas

Passenger side gets power and ground all the time with the key on

Drivers side has ground it seems on both wires.

With the key on, i get a ground signal directly from the computer for both banks.

The car is an 85 Camaro Z28. was carbed swapped in an 87 TPI setup. that has been removed now its all 88 electronics except under the dash harness. i have the IP connector harness from the 87 still in the car and it seemed to plug right in.

With all the injectors plugged in and the fuel pump turned off, the car will run and idle and runs rich..... basically the vaccum of the engine is pulling the gas through the fuel line. eek:

I know this is alot to read but i want to make sure everything is covered. i checked the grounds on the back of the engine, they are all there. i took the looms off and made sure the wires wernt grounded to eachother...

PLEASE HELP!!!
----------
Also with just the passenger side injectors plugged in, and the fuel pump on it wont fire those cylinders....(injectors not opening)

Re: Half My Injectors Work, WHAT IN THE WORLD!?

what makes you say the fuel pump is off? the oil pressure sensor will provide power to the fuel pump as well. that sensor and the fuel pump relay are in parallel. i think that is the proper term(not electrically inclined). the ecm also GROUNDS the injectors to get them to fire. check the fuses under the dash to make sure they are good. each bank of injectors has it's own fuse. then at the connector under the dash by the ecm going towards the driver side/ fuse box(c220?) makes sure the wiring is the same on both sides. just because it plugs in doesn't mean it is correct. i can't remember the color of the wires that provide power to th injectors. i think they are pink but i'm not sure.

Re: Half My Injectors Work, WHAT IN THE WORLD!?

I have the fuel pump on a switch. i can turn it on or off.

Also i know the ecm grounds the injectors and they have constant power. basically both banks are getting ground all the time. both sides get power when the passenger side inectors are connected if they are disconnected none of the injectors will open.

with the key on and the car not running the injectors shouldnt be open otherwise if you turn the key, and the pump cannot prime because it would be pumping fuel into the motor.

i left the key on for a few minutes and it filled the engine and engine oil with gas. i had to remove all the plugs and drain the oil.

every sensor is connected and all the grounds that are there are hooked up. it came directly out of a running 88 GTA so im assuming its something with the harness from the ecu/engine harness to the fuse box.

And yes the wires are pink that are for the injectors. but i noticed there is a connector that is not plugged into anything. i beleive its a 6-pin connector but there is none on the engine harness for it and one of the wires in that connector is one of the power wires for the injectors. at least thats what it seems like.

Re: Half My Injectors Work, WHAT IN THE WORLD!?

ah....i get ya.

my '91rs was originally a v-6. when i put the motor out of my '87 into it, i converted to speed density. i used the harness out of a '90 gta. there were two wires different between the harness and the dash wiring. one wire was a ground for my guages that the gta harness didn't have in the c100 connector. the other was in the c220 connector. the dash had a power wire going to the c220 connector to power the underhood light on the camaro. on the gta harness however it was a ground so i was constantly blowing fuses till i tracked down the culprit. there could be some differences in the two harnesses.

if you didn't install the under dash harness, you might want to check to make sure it was done correctly. the problem you described with the injectors and that extra connector makes it sound as if it the two halves of the injector harness were run in series or something instead of off of individual fuses.

how did you wire in to the fuel pump? like i said, the oil pressure sensor will run the fuel pump when the car is started.

Re: Half My Injectors Work, WHAT IN THE WORLD!?

I ran a wire directly to the fuel pump, it was wired through the harness and i ran it to the relay but i seemed to have issues with it so i ran it that way. i might have to get that harness and wire it up, so everything is correct. because everything was working, something could have gotten messed up in the process, but you never know!

Re: Half My Injectors Work, WHAT IN THE WORLD!?

Well i think i am catching on to what is happening.....

this didnt click untill yesterday afternoon. there is no c221 connector on the engine harness side. the car everything came out of is an 88. i read on chevythunder.com that 86-89 are the same.... the wires have not been cut or anything, i do not understand what is going on. i dont know if it matters that it came out of an 88 Trans am GTA or not but this has to be my issue.

does this mean ill have to get a different harness? or do i need to wire in the IP connector harness wires into a different connector like the c207?

And yes im 100% sure there is no connector there.
