I have an 87 T/A 305 TPI, Manual Transmission.

under light load it shudders. When you are just holding the gas to maintain speed at about 2000 RPMs it feels like it is running out of gas.

My thoughts are:
Clogged Cats
Fuel Filter
O2 sensor
Indectors
Computer

I am looking for both suggestions on what the problem may be and best ways to Diag it.

i would suspect a clogged cat. or fuel filter , or both . pretty straight fwd. on changing both . if you don't have emissions testing rod out cat. ( illegal to do but i won't tell ) felt a much better running car when i did mine .

 

I spoke to a friend and he pointed out that Fuel filter and/or Cats would limit top end and get worse with high RPM. If anyone has other thoughts I appreciate it.

 

any check engine light? when was the last time it had a yune up? (plugs wires cap fuel filter timeing)
